The 2027 class has some really talented players at the Shooting Guard position. A lot of these players run the 1 and the 2, and some play at the 3 as well. Many of these players are three level scorers and some are just specialist who sit behind the three point line and let it fly. In this article we look at some of the State's shooting guards in the new 2027 rankings. Some of these players will also be featured in our upcoming 2027 sleepers and under the radar articles.

[player_tooltip player_id='221627' first='Vanessa' last='VanCott'] is a special shooting guard in the 2027 class. She is a vefrsatile guard who can slide over and also play the point as well. VanCott is comfortable with the ball in her possession and can get to the rim or pull up for the "J." VanCott turned a lot of heads at the Freshman Expo with her performance and scoring ability. She can get to the rim or score out on the perimeter. VanCott scored an incredible 509 points in her Freshman year and averaged 20 points per contest. Three more similar years and she will be in rare scoring company. VanCott scored all ovefr gthe court and connected on 57 threes for the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='221598' first='Trinity' last='Berry'] is a special Freshman player who gets better and better with each outing. Berry was a standout 2027 player on a heavy loaded Junior and Senior team. The young guard got a lot of quality playing time and there was no hesitation from her coach playing her in the crunch time. Berry can defend three positions and does so with effectiveness and confidence. She can score from all three levels and is at her best when taking it to the rim. Berry can also shoot the three ands score in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='248680' first='Janiya' last='Swift'] Swift scorched the nets last year as an 8th grader and was ready for encore in her Freshman season. Swift averaged nearly 10 points per game last season. Swift can handle the the ball and can also score the ball. Swift shot it well from behoind he arc with 30 three pointers. Swift has a high basketball IQ and always plays under control. She is also a very sefless player who makes the corrct basketball play. I saw Swift in Louisville amnd Orlando as a 7th grader and as an 8th grader at the Inside Exposure Thanksgiving tournament in Jacksonville. Swift is a special player whose maturity on the floor is ahead of a ninth grader.

[player_tooltip player_id='873419' first='Gianna' last='Conklin-Jones'] led Cocoa in scoring as a Freshman averaged 11.8 points at the guard position this past season. I recently saw the Freshman at the Demetrius Richardson Showcase in Melbourne and she left her usual impression. Jones can attack the rim, she has nice footwork in the paint, and she can shoot the three. Jones also played some nice defense at the showcase. She has quick feet, good lateral movement, and very good anticipation. Jones averaged nearly 3 steals per game. Jones is also very good in transition where she can score for herself or dish to teammates on the wings.

[player_tooltip player_id='873977' first='Natalia' last='Long'] is no stranger to PGH Florida. She was one of the top players at the PGH Freshman Expo. Long was aggressive at getting to the rim and scoring the ball. She was special in transition and was able to get by defenders with her good ball handling skills. This past season, Long averaged nearly 12 points per game and finished the season with 273 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='741323' first='Nylah' last='Brooks'] was a Freshman standout out in the panhandle, scoring nearly 10 points per game and 236 points for the season. Brooks also shot it well from the three point line, connecting on 26 threes for the season. She has good handles and does a good job of changing directions. She can score on the outside, but she can also get to the paint and score. She can also mix it up on hr inside. One intangible that really stands out when watching her play is her competiveness. Brooks is going to battle until the end.

[player_tooltip player_id='221599' first='Caelyn' last='Carter'] had a nice Freshman campaign and was instrumental in her team winning the Gateway Conference championship this season in Jacksonville. Carter played with a lot of Seniors on the floor, but was always poised. She was one of the team's best shooters and teammates did not shy away from getting her the ball. She did a good job of knocking down the open outside shot. She can shoot the three and look for a lot more next season since her team will be losing three senior starters.

[player_tooltip player_id='221593' first='Yinuo' last='Wang'] was really special in the Florida State championship game. She was on the attack and showed great handles and the ability to score the ball, including one from "downtown." Wang was really composed against Mainland and made it known that she would be instrumental in the outcome. She had some nice attacks to the basket and a very nice float game. One thing that was really impressive about her game was her competitiveness and having no fear of anyone on the court. Wang finished with 7 points in the Championship game, numerous press breaks, a lot of defensive pressures, and all around good game.
