showed why she is such a difficult matchup. Berry did a good job of playing the two and the three, and what really stood out on day one was her effectiveness in the paint. She impacted the game from the perimeter and scored inside with the midrange game. Berry used her strength, size, and patience to get into the paint, finishing plays and scoring efficiently around the basket. In another contest, she showcased her perimeter game by knocking down shots from beyond the arc. Berry never appeared rushed and did not force the action. Instead, she allowed the game to come to her, consistently finding quality scoring opportunities. Also noticeable was the leadership she displayed on the court and the chemistry she had with her new teammates. Everybody “ate,” and at the same time, it was clear that Berry was option number one. That recipe could land Berry and company a seat at the State Championship table.

Trinity made her presence felt on both ends of the floor starting with her defensive impact. She consistently locked up opposing players and competed with a relentless motor throughout the game. Offensively, she knocked down the three-ball with a high release and smooth mechanics while showing the ability to get her shot off even with limited space. Her range extends well beyond the arc which makes her a threat whenever she is on the perimeter. What stood out most was her heart and hustle. Trinity dove on the floor for loose balls and even launched herself out of bounds to save possessions. Those are the types of winning plays coaches love to see. Her toughness, effort, and two-way impact helped her stand out during Friday’s action.

Berry can put the ball on the floor, get to the rim, and rise into the mid-range pull-up, making her a tough cover in space. Her three-point shooting ability also shows up in transition. Berry will rise up in transition if she senses the defense is retreating too quickly. She is also crafty with the basketball, knows how to create angles, and has a knack for drawing fouls to get to the free-throw line. Berry plays with an aggressive scoring mentality and has the versatility to impact the game whether attacking off the bounce or knocking down timely shots from deep.

Berry plays much bigger than her height is definitely a “big guard” with muscles coming out of her compression shirt and swagger in her stride. Berry is very crafty with the ball and, in isolation situations, got the best of her defender in the one on one matchup. She uses her power to initiate contact with defenders before elevating for finishes at the rim scoring and/or ending up at the free throw line. When the ball was not in Trin’s hands she move with fluidity off the ball and cutting off screens before knocking down jumpers from the midrange and three point territory. Berry read the defense well and when the help came from her teammates she found them and hit them with passes in position to score. Defensively, Berry uses that strength and length while obstructing ball handlers’ vision and preventing them from making easy passes. She recently committed to Longwood University in Virgina.
