Whether it’s been for Rabun County or Southeast United, Adelyn has proven over the last three years that when she gets hot she can shoot with anybody. With the freedom that John McGraw allows his guards to play with Adelyn really thrives in his dribble-drive offense. She is excellent penetrating the defense off the dribble and hitting open teammates cutting to the basket or kicking out for a three after forcing the defense to help and collapse. When left open, she is nearly automatic from three. Thompson is very good shooting the ball both pulling up off the dribble and in catch and shoot situations. Adelyn is also a very good finisher around the rim and gets herself into the right areas to score opportunistic baskets every game.

Thompson continues to prove she’s one of the more reliable perimeter threats in the gym. A knockdown shooter off the catch, she consistently punished defenses that lost track of her beyond the arc. What stood out even more this weekend was her growing comfort as a multi-level scorer—she mixed in mid-range pull-ups in both transition and halfcourt settings with confidence. Thompson has always shown versatility as a guard who can play on or off the ball, and that versatility was on full display. She sees the floor well, makes the extra pass, and operates effectively out of the pick-and-roll. Add in her competitive edge defensively, and you have a guard that impacts winning in a variety of ways.

Adelyn scored in critical moments for Rabun County helping keep the game close throughout. Thompson is one of the best shooters in the state and she played very well off the ball with Southards and Owens running the point. Adelyn is constantly moving, and with a purpose, running off screens to get the ball in positions to shoot and score. She is a strong player physically who is more than capable of running the point herself and scoring in the paint. Adelyn is already a very experienced varsity player and has the ability to get 20 points on any given night, something the Lady Wildcats will need in the rest of the season.

Thompson, who is an excellent shooter, went on a run in the third quarter where she scored 11 points in just a couple of minutes. Thompson knocked down three three-point shots and a couple of midrange jumpers for Rabun County helping bust the game open after halftime. Thompson is a physically strong player who also did a very good job rebounding the ball. She handled the ball very well showing patience and her experience.

Combo-guard grew in Year 2 at point guard, a playmaking facilitator out of pick-and-rolls. Pocket passes and delivers lobs on the run to rollers. At her best playing off the ball as a catch-and-shoot weapon. Has become a skillful driver, using her frame to bump off defenders. Finishes with both hands. Robust scorer.

Sharpshooter has shown a propensity for hitting timely shots. Combo guard can play both on and off the ball. Has become a very good playmaker, a deft passer out of high ball screens. Is at her best offensively when playing off-ball as a catch-and-shoot sniper. Smooth finisher upon getting downhill.

Knockdown shooter with unlimited range when confident. Confidence fuels her entire game—when she’s feeling it, she’s among the most dangerous on the floor. Thrives off ball screens, hitting rollers with precision passes or turning the corner to score with either hand. Moves well without the ball to find space. Has taken a major step forward as a playmaker. Big travel ball season ahead that could open D-I doors.

Adelyn Thompson Adelyn Thompson 5'4" | SG/CG Rabun County | 2027 State GA was one of  the most polished offensive players I saw on Saturday.   Her midrange was smooth and she can kill you off the dribble,  the catch, or the stop and pop. Thompson has good ball handling abilities and can get to her spots on the floor.   She can also get down hill and take it to the goal with no fear or respect for the opponent.   Thompson has the ability to finish at the rim with grit and craftiness.  Her three point shot was also deadly on Saturday. It’s no accident she hit the game winning three at the buzzer a few weeks ago.  She is one of those even keeled players who can rise to the occasion and the moment is never too big. 

Adelyn Thompson Adelyn Thompson 5'4" | SG/CG Rabun County | 2027 State GA saved the best part of her game for the very last second and calmly knocked down the game winning three. Thompson has the ability to put a bad play behind her and keep on playing with confidence. Her pull-up jumper was smooth and on line even when her shot wasn’t falling early. You could see the technique, confidence, and the moxy she plays with. Thompson handles the ball well and creates scoring opportunities for her teammates. When Thompson protects the ball and lets the game come to her, she is a force to be dealt with.  In addition to the game wining three, Thompson made some other incredible shots, including a running floater from the free-throw line.

Elite three-point shooting performance. Was on fire from the open of camp. Knocks down threes off the catch and off the dribble. Has grown as a playmaker out of pick-and-rolls.
