About Adrianna
Expert Analysis
Akeem Webb | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Adrianna averaged 7 points per game for Scott County last season and was a steady all-around contributor. She possesses tremendous speed, thrives in transition, and brings high energy on both ends of the floor. Now making the move to Frederick Douglass, she’s expected to complement their roster perfectly and fit seamlessly into their up-tempo style of play. With her addition, the Lady Broncos could feature one of the most athletic backcourts in the 11th Region and position themselves for a return trip to the Sweet 16.

Adri played lockdown defense at the perimeter, smothering ball handlers and disrupting the flow of the offense. She attacked the rim with force, consistently drawing contact and getting to the free-throw line. Loved her aggressiveness and the way she stayed in attack mode.

An athletic slasher from the guard position, Brown recently transferred to Douglass from Scott County. Adrianna is a quick player who can disrupt opposing offenses with her on the ball defense. Brown has a ways to go as a shooter before she can be a consistent threat from behind the three point line but she has all the tools to be a scholarship level player by graduation day.

I rave a lot about Adri’s athleticism, and it’s hard not to when you watch her play. She could easily make a case as the most athletic player in the 2027 class. Adri consistently blew by defenders and showcased a smooth stop-and-pop mid-range game. Her step-back is MEAN, and she used it effectively to create separation off the dribble. She was locked in from three, finished strong at the rim, and showed of her hops with some ferocious blocks on the defensive end. The growth in her game is clear, and just a reminder that it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and Adri is on the right path.

Adri’s elite speed and athleticism gives her a leg up on the floor. She makes great use of her crossover and can easily create separation off the bounce and get past initial defenders. Adri loves to push the rock and is dangerous in the open floor. Her jump shot is much improved and she suffocates ball handlers with her lockdown defense. She is a highlight waiting to happen and a fun player to watch.

Adri showed up and showed out at the Expo. She orchestrated the offense and did a fantastic job finding teammates for quality shots. Adri was explosive off the bounce, had a couple blocks on defense, and took advantage of her open looks from the perimeter.

Brown uses her speed and quickness so well. If you try to guard her tight, she’ll go right around you and can finish in creative ways around the rim. If you play off of her, she can knock down shots. At the PGH Freshman Showcase, she was an easy standout throughout the day. Her handles were strong and she had a great variety of moves she utilized to create space. She made good passes and really displayed a strong overall game.

2022-23 Stats: 3.5 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 34.2% FG, 24.1% 3FG, 62.1% FT
Outlook: I’m not sure if the 11th Region has a breakout player of the year award at the end of the season, but if they do, look for Brown to be in contention. She continuously opened people’s eyes at the PGH Freshman Showcase with her quick, shifty ball handling and ability to get to the rim at ease. She makes it very hard for defenders to stay in front of her and she was scoring inside and out. Defensively, she can apply a ton of pressure and she has good hands. I wouldn’t be surprised to see every single statistical category increase significantly this upcoming season with the talent she has.

Brown is part of a very talented 2027 class for Great Crossing (if our freshman showcase is any indication) and could be the best of the bunch. Adrianna plays hard and with a little bit of an edge to her. She’s a good three point shooter in catch and shoot opportunities and a good finisher at the rim, even through contact. She needs to not settle for threes off the dribble for now but that part of her game will come with time.
