Tamia averaged 10.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game and was once again a key component for Frederick Douglass on their run to an 11th Region title and a second straight trip to Rupp Arena. She earned First Team All-City honors, Second Team All-Region recognition, and was named an All-State Honorable Mention. Tamia also picked up her second Division I offer from University of West Georgia.

Tamia showed flashes of what she did last season for Douglass on Day 1 of the Sweet 16 and looked comfortable on the big stage. She got things going early with a three that hit nothing but net for the first points of the game, then followed it up with another triple from the corner, always having her feet set and ready to fire. Tamia also showcased her playmaking ability with a nice assist and added another three in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with four made triples.

Tamia is coming off a phenomenal 8th grade season where she hit 36.5% from three and knocked down 61 total threes! She averaged 11.9 points per game and led her team at the free-throw line at 75.8%. Her shotmaking was a major reason Frederick Douglass captured the 11th Region title and made a memorable run to the Final Four at Rupp Arena!

Tamia has an outstanding blend of court vision and passing ability. She kept her head up, found teammates running the floor, and delivered precise passes that led to easy buckets. Tamia dropped multiple dimes in transition, showcasing her ability to create scoring opportunities. On top of her playmaking, she also knocked down a timely wing three, proving she can step up and score when needed.

Tamia is a talented scorer who can got hot in a hurry and knows how to get herself free for clean looks on offense. She was a vital part of this season’s run to Rupp Arena for the Lady Broncos and is going to score a ton of points in her high school career.

8th grade sensation Tamia Waide Tamia Waide 5'7" | SG Frederick Douglass | 2029 State KY put on a show in the 42nd District championship, dropping a game-high 25 points while adding 3 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and hit 4 triples to lead Frederick Douglass to their third straight district title with a dominant 78-44 win against Henry Clay.

Douglass is off to a strong start again this season. Waide is a good role player already and has the makings of a future star for the Lady Broncos. Tamia shoots the ball well from range and has the ability to guard multiple positions on defense as well.

Tamia set the tone early for Douglass and liked the level of intensity she played with throughout the game. She used active hands to come up with steals, had a couple fast break buckets, and made sure to get others involved. She also hit two from beyond the arc, including a clutch three to keep the game close with 27 seconds left to go. Tamia looks like she will be a key contributor for the Lady Broncos this season.
