Tink Butler | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Amora had been battling an ankle injury prior to the tournament but showed out in the first game with all of the tricks that have wowed us over the last few years. She shot the three at a 45% rate averaging double figures despite being limited in the second two games. I was really looking forward to a showdown between her and NyAir McCoy but it will have to wait until they meet in college.

Amora has the speed and quickness to frustrate most every defender. Defensively she is a pest as well. Her game matches up really well against what we seen from McNamara’s NyAir McCoy. I’m rooting for them to get far as we can only see that dream matchup in the championship game.

Amora is super quick and has had no problem beating defenders since her freshman year. Each season, however, she has gotten better to the point of being virtually unstoppable. She only stands about 5’1″ but her height is not a disadvantage for her, in fact it seems to make her tougher to guard. Her defense has shown to be a problem to players as well as most ball handlers avoid facing her up but rather keeping their bodies between her and the ball essentially slowing down the offense.

Amora has jumped out of the 20’s into the top 10. She has been on a tear proving that she probably was ranking too low to start. Her production makes you forget that she is only slightly over five foot tall. Her range and speed has shades of Ivory Latta (google her). She’s an impressive player that can make any team better.

Amora lit it up in the first half hitting shots from way beyond the arc. She attacked the basket elevating her 5’1″ frame over six footers to finishing at the rim. She cooled off in the second half looking to set up the offense, get players in position and feed the post. Defensively she was very irritating to ball handlers and she never let up even with a nice lead. She did enough in the half one to be voted game MVP.

Amora has had spurts where she has been literally unstoppable on the court. For some crazy reason her 5’1′ stature is an advantage for her as defenders are finding it difficult to get low with her. So throwing out size she has top 10 talent, eyes are on her.

Amora is a blur on the court and can get by virtually any defender with two dribble. At the basket she is very deceptive as you look to time her for a blocked shot she shifts a gear a finishes from unexpected angles. She is a hard player to defend because she is unpredictable and leaving her open can be costly.

St. Frances’ defense in the first half against Elizabeth Seton was suffocating. Amora Alston was a big reason why. Her full-court defensive pressure on the ball handler was tremendous, and she forced easy turnovers that led to easy points. She also hit a few threes, one being a dagger, which iced the game for St. Frances. She finished with 14 points and 5 steals.

Amora had consistent play throughout the tournament. There was a point where the referee was asking who she was and what school did she attend. She shot the three, finished inside and made some great passes.

Amora has been really impressive. She is the she is really quick and hard to stay with in transition. She is a master at finishing with her inside hand and getting her shot off in traffic. She also can fill it up from beyond the arc.
