Expert Analysis

Anais was one of the most impactful rebounders and defenders in the gym during the PGH Great Lakes Region Finals. She was absolutely relentless for Chicago Hoops Express 17U, and that determination helped the team reach the Gold bracket semifinals. I wrote down in my notes that she defended the ball on the perimeter with all-out effort. Anais battled for inside positioning and secured several offensive rebounds. She sealed a defender for a catch and finish off two feet through contact…and one, snatched an entry pass with soft hands, pivoted, swished a jumper in the low post…and one (plus the free throw), attacked down the baseline on a fierce drive to score a reverse finish…and one, then tacked on the free throw. Three and one finishes in one game, now that’s a way to catch a scout’s attention! Anais caught a pass inside, pivoted, transferred to her right, and scored off two feet. She kept scoring off two feet effectively throughout the game, dished out assists, and didn’t force shots that weren’t there. One of her greatest moments was displaying humility and receptiveness to tough coaching, which is a character trait every prospect needs to possess to be successful at the college level. Very impressive and unselfish team basketball player who makes the winning plays and works equally hard on both ends.

Harris continues to show how much of a two-way player she is, and she’s not a player who just fits in. Defensively, she can deal with your best scorer and contain them to the point where they either get frustrated or force something into a turnover. The quick feet, strength, and ability to slide and cut players off are key to that. Offensively, she is relentless and can truly score at all levels, but she is at her best from the midrange on down.

A ranked player who could climb higher. Great footwork, strong drives, and the ability to score inside and out. Even as Lane Tech ran out of gas, she played hard until the final whistle. She carries herself like a cornerstone piece for a program. She sets a standard for effort and consistency that inspires her teammates.

Heading into a program that doesn’t have the deepest talent is often a great opportunity for freshmen. Harris might find herself suiting up for varsity and getting solid minutes. Her key to being effective will be how she performs when she’s not the primary ball handler. If her instincts continue to develop, Harris could emerge as a Top 20 player in this class.

She was tenacious on the defensive end and seemed to be everywhere the ball was. Her strength allows her to fight to the basket and her athleticism allows her to finish.

The fundamentals, the size, and the solid athleticism are there. Harris could be one of those sleeper prospects with major upside. Her overall game isn’t all scoring; it’s what she does without the ball that sticks out to me. She can be a pest for players on the defensive end of the court, and she seems like she enjoys playing defense. Offensively, she shows the craftiness and the ability to get to the rim. Time is on her side to grow her overall game.
