of IC – Liberty High School. Casey first really came onto the scene last Winter when she saw a lot of time as one of her team’s main PG’s but this Winter she has proven that she is their PG #1. She has been someone that has done a great job of controlling the pace of play, she is creating opportunities for others off the dribble. she is scoring at a steady pace when she see’s an opening, and she limiting her turnovers each game. Liberty see’s a lot of success with their ball movement and 1v1 play within the half court. To set up these types of situations, you need a decent PG and Casey has proven that she can handle that role this season. Tonight is an impactful one for this program. They take on IC – West in an electric matchup. Whoever executes better down the stretch should win but we will just have to wait and see.

It seems like there’s been a Casey bombing away from deep for Iowa City Liberty since before Taylor Swift hit it big. Ava is a skilled lead guard capable of running the offense or creating shots for herself. With a good handle, Casey can break down a defense off of the bounce. She makes sound decisions on where to go with the ball when it collapses on her. Moving well off of the ball, Casey understands floor balance and finding openings behind the arc. She’s a technically-sound, on-ball defender with lateral quickness. The whole tool box was on display during her team’s win against No. 3 City High early in the ’25-26 campaign. The junior scored 10 points, shooting 2 of 5 from behind the arc and knocking down both free throw attempts. Casey grabbed a couple of rebounds and handed out an assist.

is going to be looked upon to be the ring leader for her IC – Liberty High School team this upcoming Winter season as the starting PG. Casey showed glimpses last season of being the one who will take over the lead PG spot moving forward so it’ll either be just her or they will run a system with two starting PG’s basically at the 1 and the 2 spot. Casey has good wherewithal on the Varsity floor. She doesn’t get pressured or rushed while handling and she is always an orchestrator to those around her at a steady rate. This would be someone that I would describe as a Pass-First type PG but she can also get her own when a play might break down and defensive – she holds her own. IC – Liberty will return most players from years past so as long as they keep the main thing, the main thing, who knows how far they will take things at the end of the day.

really came onto the seen this Winter with her IC – Liberty team as they made the 5A State Tournament in Des Moines. Casey is a smaller guard, that has a lethal reaction time with the ball in her possession. She would be someone that you can trust as a coach with the ball at all times as she doesn’t turn it over, she doesn’t get out of position within her offense, and she doesn’t seem to have pressure impact her ability to make plays. All important factors when speaking about someone at the Point Guard position. She has also proven this Winter that she can hit deep three pointers off the catch when it’s given back to her within the flow of things. This should be an impactful AAU summer playing up with her new program.

, the more I love her play-style and the choices she makes with the basketball. Casey is this team’s starting PG because of her game control. When she has the ball in her possession, she can control tempo, pace of play, and what everyone else is doing on the floor around her. She consistently demonstrated in this one that she can handle the rock with a tight handle under pressure, she can defend her size and a little bit bigger, and she can knock down open shots from all around the perimeter. When you combined those three things, you get a college level prospect and that’s what we have here. At this pace if Ava can keep this up and stay just as efficient moving forward, she is going to be receiving a lot of attention from the next level this upcoming Summer.
