What immediately jumps out, when watching Check play, is her relentlessness in getting to the hoop and the physicality that she brings with her. On one play she had a nice baseline reverse lay-up and another time she took it down the lane finishing through contact for an And-1. When given space, Check made the defense pay knocking down multiple 3-balls.

Check thinks the game well and overall has an approach to the game you don’t find in players much older than her, and may not even find in professionals. She never gets too high or too low, and takes every possession one at a time. She is a skilled kid who can handle the ball and create off the dribble. She can score from all three levels and create her shot from each. I also think she may have the best footwork as a shooter that I’ve seen in my time around Wisconsin.

Check is one of those players that’s going to give it all she’s got every time she steps on the court. I instantly noticed that early during the 3 on 3 games. In the halfcourt, Check made great reads and scored going to the basket. She continued the doing the same in the scrimmages. Check has a chance to have a special freshman year.

The La Crosse native is one of the better shooters I’ve seen come out of Wisconsin in my five years covering the state. The way she can set her feet, get her shot up, and have every shot look the same is something I’ve rarely seen from anyone in Wisconsin. She is a smaller guard, but she has the IQ to make plays without being 5-9 or taller. I love how she plays.

The La Crosse native has a chance to be one of the best shooters in the state over her four-year career. Check is an undersized guard who probably excels more as a two than she does a one, solely because she’s good at getting to her spots and scoring from all three levels. She has excellent footwork, and her shot looks the same off the dribble as it does in catch-and-shoot opportunities. She attacks every drill at full speed, and she loves to compete.

Check showed up on Day and quickly showed why she’s a prospect to watch, making everything turnaround jumpers to pull up mid range shots scoring in a variety of ways, she also made a few amazing passes on the day.

Avery Check Avery Check 5'5" | PG/SG La Crosse Logan | 2030 WI probably has the quickest first step of any player I watched in person. She consistently gets to the rim and scored off the dribble while knocking down contested shots. Her offensive IQ stands out among the best of the guards in the 2030 Class.
