of DSM – Valley has two years until she will reach the college level but once she gets there, she will compete with Southwest Minnesota State out of Minnesota. Uthoff can be a leader on and off of the ball when she is on the floor. I’ve seen situations where Uthoff has to be her team’s driving source and she is very capable. It’s going to be exciting how she ends up playing from here. Now that she is committed, there is a lot of stress off of her shoulders and she can lock in on just becoming the best version of herself every day. That’s going to play in her favor in the long run and moving into the near future. If she comes mentality locked in this season, it should be fun to watch.

When you compete on a loaded team for your age group, it can be hard to stand out on either side of the ball. That’s just how the game works when you compete at a high level. Someone that did a great job of holding her own over the past two days in Waukee, while also registering some impressive numbers in her efforts was

of Missouri Phenom 17U – Iowa. Uthoff had multiple contest this weekend in which she put up impressive numbers in the scoring departments or in the rebounding departments. Either way, Uthoff was making her presence known at a consistent rate and with being on a team that potentially has 4-5 D1 players, that especially impressive. This was a great first weekend to lay the foundation for the rest of this Spring/Summer campaign for this Phenom group.

in which I was impressed with what I was seeing out of her on the floor. Uthoff started off things hot for the Tigers. She began by hitting a three within their first possession and then she followed that up by getting a steal and bucket in transition but it didn’t stop there. Uthoff was a constant for the entire contest. She worked hard on defense, she stayed aggressive offensively while not settling for bad attempts, and she did a good job of not turning over the basketball when it was in her possession. The Tigers may have fallen short in this one but this performance has prepped Uthoff for a great AAU season ahead with her Missouri Phenom 17U – Iowa hub team.

Baileigh Uthoff stepped up this past Fall at our PGH Showcase in Des Moines and she has started off her Sophomore season on the same positive note. Uthoff can take over when she has confidence, a solid system around her, and good spacing. I’ve seen it first hand a lot these past few months. As for her personal ranking with the 2027 Class, I think it’s fair to say she is definitely a Top 50 prospect at this point. She just needs to continue to work on her weaknesses, like everyone else.

After earning seldom minutes as a freshman, combo guard Baileigh Uthoff has put the work in and earned herself a starting spot this season for Valley. On Tuesday she proved herself to be a solid role player for the Tigers – she is a dependable, consistent defender and does a great job keeping players in front of her. When the Tigers needed the ball in the fourth quarter, Uthoff ran the top of their trapping press and forced a handful of Ankeny turnovers. I’m looking forward to Baileigh’s progress as she gains experience this season.

From watching Baileigh Uthoff compete last year and then watching her compete again this past Saturday, it’s pretty easy to say that she has taken massive strides in her game on both ends of the floor. Last year, I wasn’t really sure what Uthoff did for her team or where she fit in but that has changed quite quickly. Now she is a vocal leader, a determined driver and facilitator of the basketball, and she is really good at making the right play for her team in one way or another. I was really blown away by her performances during this Showcase not only because she was she killing it, but because she was killing it, every single game, no matter the competition level across from her. At Valley High School this Winter, they are going to have some impressive young underclassman in their mix and Uthoff should be in that conversation.

is a physically dominant wing, that doesn’t take lip from anyone. She has a built frame mixed with some solid size and athleticism to pair along with it. She is someone that moves between the 3 and 4 spot depending on what her team needs of her or who else is on the floor at the same time. On this team and in this situation, she is going to be the 3 in most situations. This group won’t need her presence in the middle but I’m sure she is going to call out a mismatch if she happens to have a smaller Guard switch onto her. The best basketball of Uthoff is definitely ahead of her. She competes at Valley for high school ball and didn’t see the Varsity floor as a freshman but I would expect that to change over these next few seasons. She does too many good things to not get a chance in the long run. If she stays dedicated to the game of basketball, she is going to continue to be successful over her high school career.
