About Cora

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

On defense, I love the challenge of guarding the other team's best player. On offense, I love getting my teammates involved. I think I am a three-level scorer. I can finish with both hands around the basket and have been a high percentage three point and free throw shooter. Overall, I think I have a high basketball IQ.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I want to be the toughest player on the court and when people watch me play, I want them to say "it means more to that girl." I believe that hard work leads to success, both on and off the basketball court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Citizenship Award - 8th grade Fellowship of Christian Athletes

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

This past season, I took on more of a leadership role given that our team was very young. I tried to lead by example. Hard work, toughness and discipline are all important characteristics that I have developed and that have helped me in my leadership role. My faith is also very important to me and has shaped who I am as a person, teammate and community member.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I had surgery on my kneecap after my 8th grade basketball season. I was unable to play sports for approximately 3 months after the surgery. I now cherish every opportunity I have to compete.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has great academics and community support. As for basketball, I want to play for a program that has a strong culture and that places an importance on success on the court, in the classroom and in the community. I want to play for a coach that holds me accountable but also makes basketball fun.

We are going to be able to see what Cora Sauer Cora Sauer Cora Sauer 5'8" | SG Lake Mills | 2027 State IA is made out of this AAU season when she is on the road with the Lady Martin Bros Select program. Sauer, a 5’8 SG, has an overall game that is noteworthy. Offensively, her shooting stroke from deep is clean and fundamental. She can finish at the hoop on either side with either hand in a number of different ways and she can move off of the ball as a cutter for simple looks off of her movement. Defensively, this is someone that stands out. She gets her hands on several tip/deflections throughout the duration of a ball-game and that plays into her team’s group defense as a whole. If I’m a recruiter at the college level around the Midwest, this is someone that I would take a look at. She brings a lot of positives to the court and she is only going to get better with time/experience.
