The more that I watch Kingsley Thomas compete, the more I like her game and the more I think that she will be able to be a really nice piece in a college system one day. Thomas moves around at 5’10 at the Forward position and she is efficient in working the middle in every which way. We have seen her against man2man defenses, where she has to play more of a singular position and we have seen her against zones, where she has to play as the facilitator in the middle of the floor to help open up things around her. Offensively, when she catches in the Post she is someone that can finish through contact on either side of the hoop. Defensively, she can wall up quickly against her own size and she is always looking to come from help-side if need be. I received a few texts this weekend from some collegiate staff’s around Iowa and they really like the way that Thomas is playing right now with her Lady Martin Bros Select team moving into our second live weekend of the Spring AAU season.

is not a name that we mentioned up to this point but she has all the intangibles to be really productive at the Varsity level and in college within the right system. Thomas is a 5’10 PF with muscle to pair along with her height. She is a bully to smaller/weaker opponents and she is relentless in her pursuit as a scoring threat or defender. It’s going to be nice to see Thomas on a bigger stage over the next few months with the Lady Martin Bros program. She should be able to shine within that system and show off what she will be able to bring to the next level.

Thomas was hampered by foul trouble during a Prep Girls Hoops in-person scouting opportunity at Iowa City High in late January. When she was playing freely, an interesting skill set emerged. Thomas is a legit 5-10 with strength. That helps her operate effectively around the rim. Thomas has no problem going out onto the floor and handling the ball. Her quickness and agility aid her in opening up scoring opportunities. She sees the court well and finds open teammates. Thomas hits the backboards hard and can be a good defender when not bogged down with fouls.
