Mount Vernon has been slowly sneaking up the leaderboards in their Class this Winter and a major reason for that is because of their veteran guard-play. One of the players that is helping their cause the most is Wayne State commit – Courtney Franck Courtney Franck 5'8" | PG Mount Vernon | 2026 State IA . Franck is a well-rounded player. She doesn’t make many, if any mistakes when she is locked in and that been demonstrated at a high rate this Winter so far. Franck is definitely someone that I would trust when things get tight in a big game. She knows when to do what, she knows where her teammates are suppose to be and she won’t force any unneeded actions unless the buzzer is about to go-off and she needs to make something happen out of thin air. MV is going to be a prime spot when Playoff brackets drop in a few weeks. They just need to take it one game at a time.

It’s been a long time coming but the baller that is Courtney Franck Courtney Franck 5'8" | PG Mount Vernon | 2026 State IA is now committed to the D2 level at Wayne State. Franck was a vital piece as one of her team’s PGs this past Winter when they brought home a 4A Title. What is Franck’s play-style like now-a-days? She just plays the game the right way on offense and defense. She is willing to make the extra pass for the others around her, she can take over if need be off the dribble, or she can move off the ball and produce as a screener/cutter. I expect Wayne to be good over the next few years with what they are building. When they are bringing in players like this, who knows how far they could take things?!

Country Franck has proven that she is a winner for years now during her high school career. The 5’8 PG is quick, athletic, smart, and adaptable. She won a 4A State Title last Winter as a Starter with her Mount Vernon team and she is looking to help lead them back to the same place once again over the next twelve months. As a PG, this is someone that can set up your team’s offense in the half court or she can rebound and take it in transition at a steady rate. Over her career this is someone that has moved around the guard spots on the perimeter. That’s going to help her demonstrate to anyone watching that she can do multiple things for her program at the next level, wherever that may be.

I can admit when I have made a mistake. Country Franck, along with sister Taylor, are future college basketball players at the D2 level at the very least. Both of which should have been ranked in this Update in the Top 75. Courtney is a selfless PG, that can really lead her teams by example. I’ve seen Court on the floor for years now and her game style doesn’t change up. That might not seem like a big deal but there is this phenomenon that occurs where prospects like to play on one floor, more than the other, and while doing that they look like completely different players in each setting. That’s not the case here. CF is always doing the same stuff for her team’s, making a lasting impact and leaving it all on the floor. You are only as good as where you are offered at the end of the day and the Franck sisters should receive some D2 interest before their AAU journey comes to an end in about a month.

Courtney Franck Courtney Franck 5'8" | PG Mount Vernon | 2026 State IA was named an All Tournament First Team player for her performance over the past week in Des Moines. Franck, a 5’8 PG, is an unquestionable leader for her team with the ball in her possession. As a guard, she doesn’t seem like a natural 1 or 2 but more of a mix. She can play both at a thorough rate without turning the ball over and that is a major key to her success or at least it has been thus far in her basketball journey. Franck was all over the floor last night in their big win. She did her usual offensively but she also recorded several rebounds on both ends. Just demonstrating what you can do with some smarts, a high motor, and a better than average athletic ability. I have Franck being a D2/NAIA prospect at the end of the day with her sister but it’s all about fit. I’m sure whichever place makes them feel like home the most, will be where they eventually go. Either way though, she will always be able to say she is a 3A State Champion.

On a balanced, talent-loaded Mount Vernon squad, I like Courtney Franck Courtney Franck 5'8" | PG Mount Vernon | 2026 State IA as their X-Factor to help push them to the State Tournament (the first step is getting past a pesky Solon squad on Wednesday). Though the junior point guard is not the top scorer on the team, she does everything well on the floor and flat out knows how to help her team win. Franck is averaging 7.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 3.2 steals per game — an impressive, well-rounded output for the floor general this season. In addition Franck is shooting 38% from deep. Combined with an excellent assist to turnover ratio, the ‘Stangs can turn to Franck to be productive and impactful throughout their regional run.

Courtney, much like her sister Taylor, moved all around the outside and produced in several different ways in their contest against ELC. Courtney had moments where she took important three pointers, she ran some offense, she facilitated for others, and she did a great job on defense of not getting beat to the basket. From what I witnessed, this is someone that is more-so going to be their primary ball-handler in big moments. That could obviously change before the season ends but for now, I don’t see why you wouldn’t trust her. This is someone that runs what the coaches want, she is a vocal leader to others around her, and she is intelligent. Those things usually lead to a lot of success on the court so as long as they trust the process, they should be just fine.

I am so excited to see the development of the Franck sisters from their sophomore to their junior year. Courtney, who averaged 6.7PPG last season, was a true floor general on Saturday, showing great situational awareness and poise. Franck showed off a really solid handle, great form on outside jumpers, and some serious shiftiness to get pass defenders and finish at the rim. Courtney Franck Courtney Franck 5'8" | PG Mount Vernon | 2026 State IA looks to be in midseason form and ready to level up in 2024-25.

The Mount Vernon Mustangs have started off this season taking care of business and because of that, they are currently ranked as the #1 team in the 3A Class in Iowa. Someone from this group that doesn’t get enough credit is PG, Courtney Franck. Franck isn’t the player that is going to lead everyone in scoring each contest but she is going to be the one responsible for setting everyone else up for success that is around her. When you have a roster like the Mustangs with a lot of size and skill, you don’t need your PG to over-play their position and do too much. You want them to control pace of play and make the best choice for the group as a whole when it comes to big moments. Franck does all of that. She has demonstrated this season that she can lead a well-seasoned group, no matter the circumstances or situation.
