Ellie is that special kind of talent that draws attention from bipartisan fans, and who makes her team must-watch basketball.

She’s able to set the tone early for Team Herro . In her first game of the weekend, she buried three 3-pointers in the opening 4 minutes, on her way to a 14-point performance. But scoring is only a small component of what makes her a special player. She runs the floor with ease and comfortability, and has supreme command of what’s going on at all times.

Ellie’s very comfortable when she’s going downhill on a fast break. I saw her make several impressive layups, including some acrobatic baskets under the hoop. And defensively, she has nice length and impressive hops to get up high for blocks.

Ellie can score with ease, but she’s an elite passer as well. She told me that one of the aspects that she thinks sets her apart, is her ability to find an open teammate.

Ellie is the kind of player that bipartisan viewers would come to watch. She was electric in both of Team Herro ‘s wins on Saturday.

Against Example Sports , she drained three 3-pointers early in the game to set the tone; finishing with 14 points total. Then in the night game, she buried another four 3-pointers in a 24-point outing and another win for her team.

Ellie runs the floor with ease and comfortability. She has supreme command of the court, with an innate knowledge of what offense to run, and which teammate to look for.

She’s comfortable going downhill on a fast break, and converts some very impressive layups at the hoop. And she has the height and length to be an effective defensive player on the perimeter, or in the paint.

The athletic tools Apuan has as a wing will jump out to anyone who sees her playing for Team Herro this spring and summer. She played a role at La Crosse Central alongside a scholarship-level talent. However, Apuan has looked like a different player in her first season with her new program. She is a player who could catch some coaches by surprise if they make their way to see her playing 15u EYCL basketball. There is a lot to like about what she brings, and she should have some room to grow.

I hadn’t seen Apuan play during the high school season, but I had seen some games on stream. The La Crosse native played a role and had some success in year one with the Riverhawks. However, she was among the most impressive players in her class that I’ve seen once I saw her play with Team Herro . Her athletic tools and skills will catch more than one coach’s eye this spring and summer.

The athletic tools are all there for Apuan to make an impact on both ends of the floor, and she more than did that this past weekend in New Berlin. She showed a few sides of her game that I didn’t see in the high school season, and I was impressed by her athleticism and confidence on both ends of the floor. She may not be a player who had a standout first season of high school basketball, but she could blow up over the next few years.

Apuan has a role at La Crosse Central and mostly plays on the perimeter and takes most of her shots from beyond the three-point line. The La Crosse native is an athletic wing who can move her feet defensively and has the athletic tools to make plays on both ends of the floor, and I’m eager to see what she looks like this summer and in her next three seasons with the River Hawks because I would assume she earns a more prominent role.
