You could called Emma Truesdell a ,”Swiss-army knife”, type of prospects with her combination of athletic ability, coordinated footwork, and overall knowledge of the game when it comes to the X’s and O’s. She stands right around 5’10, usually cleaning up any and all messes by the rim. Truesdell might not have been their leading producer last week but she stood out as someone that you have to note or else she can fill it up in a hurry in a plethora of different ways. She also rebounded and defended her own position really well, which kept her on the floor in meaningful moments. There are several players to see on this Iowa Hoops Dream 17U team. If you have a chance go ahead and check their schedule to see them on the road over the next few months.

Slow & Steady. I’m not saying Emma Truesdell is slow by any definition of the phrase. What I am saying is that when she competes, her production just keeps stacking. Slowly and steady. We saw that multiple time this weekend in her contests. She might not have lead her team in scoring each game but she was consistent. She was someone that her group could rely on for 8-12 points, along with a number of other positive stats throughout. Truedell is a solid player and this weekend she demonstrated what it means to consistently show up.

out of Roland-Story. She’s a hard-nosed kid that reads the game well, is a strong communicator on the court, and will call her own number at the right times. She started the game strong with a head fake and blow by in transition to draw the foul at the rim, and found a number of open teammates off of aggressive drives all night. Truesdell reads her teammates well — her ability to drive off of teammates’ cuts worked really well in Roland-Story’s motion offense. She also hit a huge kick-out three in the fourth when the Norse were surging and another bucket late off of another good shot fake. I definitely liked what I saw out of the junior wing.

Emma Trusdell brings crafty-play, simple strategies, and a ton of heart to the court as a SF. I would even say that Truesdell is more of a CG at this point in her career with how versatile she is but she does see a lot of success near the hoop. She can also defend multiple positions at a pretty high rate. Doesn’t matter if the matchup is bigger or smaller. Roland Story is going to return a few producers from year’s past. They will be led by upperclassmen leadership with Truesdell included so I can’t wait to see what they end up putting together.

of Roland Story. Truesdell is a 5’9 Combo Guard/Small Forward and a good one at that. To kick off her Freshman year, Truesdell is scoring 5 PPG, grabbing 4 RPG, and dishing out 1.5 APG. All while playing stout and physical defense. When you evaluate most young players, they usually have an ability that they are great at. Something that stands out from their skill-set above the rest but in this case, Truesdell is pretty even across the board. She makes good plays, doesn’t force action, and she sticks with her given assignment. As a coach, you couldn’t ask for much more. This Roland Story team is legit. I hope they can keep winning as we come out of break and moving into the Playoffs in a few short weeks.
