A combo guard that I feel is kind of a unknown player due to the fact she was out last season with a knee injury. Before the injury she averaged double digits and known for lock down defense. After watching Essence play in summer league and this weekend she is getting back to her old ways. Attacking the rim making contact with inside bump to create the space needed for the pull up jumper. She a player that brings offense and defense to the game.

It is good to see this young lady back on the court looking like her old self after suffering an injury last summer. Quick guard that adds an up-tempo vibe along with some other guards giving the Lady Jackets a very athletic backcourt. Strong downhill driver that can get to a gap and hit you with the pull up. Also adds another skill player that can play some point with her ball handling skills. A 2026 that recruiting interest should pick up this season.

A player that looked back in form and ready for an outstanding senior season. Quick guard that explodes through any gap in the defense getting to the rim. A lockdown defender on the ball that gives up no ground making difficult for the opposing team to run any sets. The energy she brings on defense seems to carry on to her team as they were quick and aggressive as a team. Essence talents have been noticed as she has received offers to play at the next level.

A combo guard that can create making those around her better but can slide over to the shooting guard spot as she is a good outside shooter. Tough finisher at the rim using variety of finishes to score the basket. Strong defenders that apply the pressure without giving up the direct drive. Unable to play last season due to injury she is a scoring guard that many will see this summer for the first time. Expecting a strong circuit and the upcoming school season

has transferred to Choctaw High Schools. Essence is currently rehabbing from a leg injury but should return I would expect sometime in January if not sooner. Essence joins a Choctaw team that has veteran players returning but is needing to replace Davis who has taken her talents to OBU this season. Essence is a combo scoring guard that should be a great fit into the Lady Jacket system.

Game Watched: Team Griffin 2026 vs Unity Basketball Lang
Curry mixes quick hands on defense with quick feet on offense to be a speedy player who is a handful when getting downhill. Often her burst left defenders in the dust, but when she did face opposition at the rim she was still a good finisher. With scoop shots and others ways to use angles to avoid taller defenders. Her speed and tenacity was most apparent during a stretch where she took it to the rim in the halfcourt. Then seconds later, Curry forced a turnover in the backcourt and scored another two points. Little spurts like that are capable of changing games and that’s what the tenacious lead guard provides.

At a showcase like this where there are a lot of kids who have come out to try to impress scouts and coaches, it can be very hard to standout. Somehow, Essence always makes sure that she stands out. I mark it down in my notes as the fact that she has that “wants it” factor. It doesn’t matter if she’s playing for her school, her club, or this team that was thrown together the night before the event, she wants to win and she is going to do what’s best for her team. She has a plethora of ways to finish inside and is virtually unstoppable when she decides it’s time to get a bucket. I’ve seen her work within her school/coach’s system too, and she can definitely be a traditional point guard when called upon. But, there’s no need to limit her slashing ability. When you need a bucket (and who doesn’t?), Essence will get you one, guaranteed.

Essence was the shortest player on the court for Team Griffin, but that was definitely not an issue. She is an absolute baller. The first thing that stood out was the “bunnies,” as a good friend of mine likes to say. She isn’t getting blocked because she is gonna bounce up over you and has a beautiful, high release. Curry is fiery, in a good way; the kind of way that doesn’t demean the other team and instead rallies her teammates around her. Try to trap her in the backcourt at your own peril, she has the handles to split the double team, the speed to beat all of you down the court, and the composure to finish strong at the rim… and probably pick up the “and-1” while she’s at it.
