Marissa Rimbert | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Is there any surprise this freshman helped lead her team to the state finals in her freshman year? Absolutely not. Byers-Veal is the real deal. Watching her 6-foot-1 length lead the break is like seeing a stallion gallop past everyone on the court. She finishes with smooth control at the rim, effortlessly turning speed and athleticism into points in transition. Her jumpshot is just as smooth.

Byers, like the ice cream, is smooth and cold off the dribble, yet she is “long and athletic” and understands how to get to the basket, however and whenever she wants, which is a problem for defenders. She also stands above “the magic number” plays solid on the ball defense, rebounds, shows good timing to block shots, and plays the passing lane

Byers-Veal is “long and athletic” and stands above “the magic number” yet her intangibles will keep her on the short list for countless D1 programs, yes, she is a #D1Lock. Her timing to block shots, pick pockets, and play the passing lane has gotten better. She rebounds on both ends, scores around the basket, off the dribble, and with the pull-up jumper. She also did a good job defending both inside and outside the paint

Byers-Veal showed signs of being the REAL DEAL years ago, I believe she was in the 4th grade, and my exact words were “she has scary upside, trust me.” see evaluation here, and when I use that combo, you can take it to the bank like she takes defenders off the dribble. Let me also add “her ceiling has no roof” after playing up last season against and with some high-level players, she sealed it

Byers-Veal was one of the youngest participants at my All-Eyez On Me Individual Showcase in 2020, so what, a 4th grader see evaluation here, and although I didn’t drop the #D1Lock on her, I said her upside was scary. Fast forward to this season’s #Super64 see evaluation here not only is she a #D1Lock, but you can throw away the key.

Byers-Veal is showing signs of becoming “the real deal” in the not-too-distant future and here’s why. She’s long and athletic, which will ALWAYS be the base and she’s a shade under “the magic number” which is 6’0. Watching her put in work on a star-studded team and playing UP is another reason and speaking of UP, yeah she elevates around the basket to score and block shots. She was the recipient of an alley-oop, scored off the dribble, and created her shot from outside
