No matter the drill Owens was encouraging fellow players, bringing energy, and being a vocal leader on the floor. Additionally I appreciated Owens asking for feedback and looking for additional ways to stand out — lots of initiative in that kid. Owens brings a multifaceted skillset on the floor, confidence, and lots of talk that I know coaches will appreciate.

Gigi Owens Gigi Owens 6'0" | PG Lincoln Northeast | 2027 State NE turned heads as one of the best standouts at the event Sunday.

She has a functional handle, highlighted by her left-to-right crossover that allows her to get to her spots. Once she gets there, she is a strong finisher who embraces contact and can finish with both hands.

Gigi has a host of pick-ups that, coupled with her long stride length, allow her to navigate traffic to get to the rim.

While she can get to the rim at will, she is also a capable shooter. She’s a lefty who gets good rotation on her shot. Owens showed good vision and feel as a passer. On defense, she can guard multiple positions up and down the lineup.

We first saw Owens compete in general a few years ago at this same showcase and I’m sure she is more experienced as an overall hooper at this point in the game. Owens will be a big source for her Lincoln High team’s production this Winter as a Junior. The stage is set for her to take over so all there is left is to go out and produce. Something she won’t have an issues with in totality. This will be one of the biggest guards we have in the building at this event so let’s see what she can do with that. We are talking about a natural guard at 6’0 so the possibilities are endless.

This is a vital season for Gigi Owens Gigi Owens 6'0" | PG Lincoln Northeast | 2027 State NE on the varsity hardwood. Owens has all the intangibles coaches love. She has athletic ability, size at 6’0, skill at the guard spot, and she plays with a chip on her shoulder. She is aggressive and loves to really take it at whoever is trying to matchup with her individually. Owens is coming off of a memorable AAU Spring/Summer with her Missouri Phenom Nebraska Hub team and she is looking to make her mark at Lincoln High as a Junior. Something definitely possible if you look at all of the factors that are set into play here.

I like what I see from Gigi Owens Gigi Owens 6'0" | PG Lincoln Northeast | 2027 State NE and how she physically controls the game. Owens is a lengthy and athletic PG at 6’0. She can move around the perimeter to almost any position but she is really at her best when she is in control. She possesses some raw and natural ability, she just needs to need working on the situational aspects of the game. If that comes together a little more, this is a steal for someone at the collegiate level. She checks off some impressive boxes, now it’s all about stacking the days as she continues to work in the off-seasons.

Gigi Owens Gigi Owens 6'0" | PG Lincoln Northeast | 2027 State NE of Lincoln High should be used this year at the 1, 2 and 3 positions for her Varsity program. Owens, a 6’0 PG, has the potential to take the state by storm over this next three seasons if she really wants to. The reach, athletic ability, and competitive demeanor that Owens possesses is second-to-none of the high school could within the state of Nebraska. She just needs to play with that confidence and the coaching staff has to trust in her to lead them. If those two things can be accomplished, everyone is going to really take things to the next level.

This is a very important season in my opinion for Gigi Owens Gigi Owens 6'0" | PG Lincoln Northeast | 2027 State NE and her Lincoln High – High School squad. Owens has a ton of upside and future potential but this has to be the season that’s on full display. I’m hoping that Owens gets a ton of time in this exhibition and ultimately, throughout their season. Her mixture of length at 6’0, her aggressive edge, and her willingness to mix it up with anyone across from her makes it tough to keep her in check when she has confidence. I really hope I see that this weekend and throughout the rest of the Winter.

From a young age, her size, athleticism, and coordination has stood out. As a Freshman she didn’t really get a huge chance to be their person and I hope that changes this time around cause she definitely has the ability to make that happen in a successful way. She has a whole other level to her play-style that no one has seen yet but it’s just a matter of time at this point.”

I need to see that Gigi Owens Gigi Owens 6'0" | PG Lincoln Northeast | 2027 State NE can take it to the next level. There is another un-tapped level to Owens game. If you watch her compete for five minutes, you can tell that she has a very bright future as long as she works on the correct things moving forward. Things like being able to knock down open jumpers on rotation and being her team’s best overall defender. Owens has the possibilities to be a lock-down prospect on that side of the floor. If she can live off of that consistently moving forward, while tightening up that efficiency, she could be a cold-blooded killer before you know it. Last year at Lincoln High she didn’t see a ton of minutes on the Varsity floor but that should change this Winter for the better. For this Update Owens will fall into the #5 spot, something she should be proud of but not satisfied with.

There are three prospects out of this Class that have the chance to compete at an entirely different level than everyone else at the end of the day if they stick with it and things work out for the best. One of those projects is Gigi Owens Gigi Owens 6'0" | PG Lincoln Northeast | 2027 State NE of Lincoln High – High School. The physical ability and natural talent of Owens is there but it’s the mental side that is going to be the big question. If she can lock in and continue to study situational basketball, she could take over the state of Nebraska by the end of this Winter. She is just one great off-season away. Last year for her Lincoln High – High School team, Owens didn’t seem to see the floor a ton at the Varsity level and that has to change. Her potential and ceiling is one of the highest in this Class. She just needs to continue to work and understand, while being put in situations to succeed. If that happens, she will most definitely have some D1 offers at the end of the day.
