Halli Poock Halli Poock 5'6" | PG Waterloo West | 2023 State IA has been the point guard and leader that the Wahawks dreamed of this season but this is no surprised as Poock is just doing her usual things on the court. Dominating. This season she surpassed the 2000 point mark for her high school career. Not something you see very often. On top of that she has been a bucket this go around, led her team to a 1-loss season thus far, and has shown that she is going to make an instant impact at the next level. The Bradley women’s basketball commit isn’t done though. Currently she is averaging 22.4 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 4.2 APG. Something she is going to try to keep up over these next few games with the goal of bringing home a championship for her team. Not much more I can say, Bradley is getting a great player with an even better head on her shoulders. Congrats Bradley.

Halli Poock Halli Poock 5'6" | PG Waterloo West | 2023 State IA has been putting on a demonstration of what it is like to be a dominate point guard this season for everyone watching. Poock, the Bradley women’s basketball commit, is going some places at the end of this season when she gets to the next level but before that she will hope to lead her Wahawks team to a state championship with the help of star forward and Oklahoma women’s basketball commit, Sahara Williams Sahara Williams 5'11" | SF Waterloo West | 2023 State IA by her side. Poock is the leader you want from a coaching stand point. She controls pace, works the ball from side to side with an objective in mind, can score at all levels, and isn’t afraid to be physical with the opponent lined up across from her. Coming into this season it would have been very simple for Poock to shy away from the spot light and just let Williams take over but that’s not what happened. I’ve been covering this team all season and every time you hear about one of those players, you hear about the other. I think that in itself shows off to every one watching that she is a serious player who is going to be big time on the D1 stage. Something I can’t wait to see. She may not get the chance right away to take over as Bradleys starting PG but with time, she is going to figure it out and be running the ship before you know it.

Poock is a gamer with game. If the defender gets up in her space, she blows by with the dribble. Sag off of her, and she knocks down threes. She possesses an excellent understanding of what her coaches want and runs the show with expertise. She’s a dogged on-ball defender and a vocal leader. The fans at Bradley University are going to be thrilled by her arrival next season.

Halli Poock Halli Poock 5'6" | PG Waterloo West | 2023 State IA has been showing off her complete skill set during her last time around for Waterloo West high school. Poock is a diverse and physical point guard who gets it done on both ends of the floor while playing her heart out each possession. She does a great job being a vocal leader and play-maker when things get messy or break down in their offense. To start this season so far she has been doing a little of everything while trying to lead her team through a successful year.  With Sahara Williams Sahara Williams 5'11" | SF Waterloo West | 2023 State IA by her side on the court, these two together are almost impossible to stop as they do a great job of feeding off of each other. If one of them is receiving to much attention or help from an opponent, the other usually does a good job finding an open teammate to get an open look at the basket. On defense Poock is relentless, pressuring opponents all the way down the floor and making them earn every inch they get moving forward. I’m excited to see where these two can take this west team as they will find some really good match-ups once they get to the state tournament.

Halli Poock Halli Poock 5'6" | PG Waterloo West | 2023 State IA will return as one of the top point guards throughout the state of Iowa in any class as she aims to take her team back to the state championship game for a second year in a row. The intelligent, crafty guard was one of the top leaders in scoring and assists last year in the 5A class. Poock would be labeled as a scoring point guard who can pass once she creates an opportunity for her teammates. She moves well and orchestrates her offense efficiently all while controlling the pace of the game, this is a crucial attribute to obtain for the position that she plays. In the offseason Poock committed to Bradley University to play at the D1 level for the next few years to come. After this season is over there will be no doubt in anyone’s mind who the best, veteran point guard in Iowa and it’ll be Poock.

Halli Poock Halli Poock 5'6" | PG Waterloo West | 2023 State IA was one of the top guards in the state last season for Waterloo West High School, leading her team to the state championship game where they fell just short, losing to Johnston High School, who ended the year undefeated at 26-0. Poock averaged 22.6 PPG on 52.6% shooting, along with 5.2 APG. Taking the #1 spot in the 5A class in overall assists with 135 total, and #11 overall throughout all classes in Iowa. The Bradley University Women’s Basketball commit is a great facilitator with natural court vision in transition, control of pace, and has the ability to score at will. She will come back this season with Oklahoma Women’s Basketball commit Sahara Williams Sahara Williams 5'11" | SF Waterloo West | 2023 State IA with the goal to returning to the state championship ending with a better result than a year ago.

Halli Poock Halli Poock 5'6" | PG Waterloo West | 2023 State IA was an efficient offensive player all around for the Waterloo West Wahawks, averaging 22.6 PPG on 52.6% shooting, 34.3% from the three point line, 76.4% from the free throw line, and tallying up 135 assists last season. Scoring a total of 587 points throughout 26 games placed her second last year in overall scoring for the 5A class, while averaging 5.2 APG placed her first overall in assists in 5A. The shifty point guard can score in anyway that her team needs while coming down the stretch in big games. With being a good controller of tempo and pace, Halli will look to return to the state championship game where last year the Wahawks ended up coming just short to Johnston High School. Finishing the season with a 23-2 record overall, 14-1 in conference.
