Any conversation about the top 2030s in South Carolina ought to include Rowan. Her eighth-grade season saw her help the Stallions of 4A South Pointe to an Upper State championship appearance. Rowan stands at 5-foot-8 and possesses plenty of length which can especially prove worthwhile on the defensive end. She also has a great deal of speed and quickness which can display itself when she attacks the rim. A 3-point shot is also part of her overall offensive repertoire. Rowan played in 28 games last season for South Pointe and averaged nine points and 2.1 steals a contest. 

Jaelyn is a guard with explosiveness and speed. She does an excellent job of running the floor in transition and getting easy layups. When she has the ball in her hands, she is really tough to guard in the open court. Rowan is also a knock down shooter from beyond the arc. Both games I attended this season she hit four or more three pointers. Her silky smoothness makes it look easy!

Stellar backcourt play is a major reason why 4A South Pointe is one of the teams to beat in that classification. As evidenced by the Stallions’ blowout victory over Wren in the second round of the 4A state tournament, that will continue to be the case. Rowan – an eighth grader – concluded her contest against the Hurricanes with 21 points en route to an 84-38 victory. In the 26 games that Rowan has played for South Pointe, she has averaged 9.1 points and 2.1 steals per game. Up next for Rowan and her Stallions – who still have yet to drop a contest against an in-state foe –  is a 4A Upper State semifinal clash on Monday at Daniel.
