About Ja’Niya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a two-way guard who plays with high energy and hustle. I focus on strong defense, pressure on the ball, and making smart plays, while still being able to score when needed as a point guard or shooting guard.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a competitive, hard-working mentality. I stay focused on doing the little things right, playing tough defense, and helping my team win in any way I can. I don’t back down from challenges and I stay locked in from start to finish. Off the court, I’m a very bubbly person, always smiling, and I naturally step into a leadership role.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I’m involved in the Early Childhood program, where I’m building hands-on experience working with young children and learning classroom skills. I am also certified in Microsoft Word, typing, and PowerPoint. Along with my academics, I maintain a strong GPA (3.6), and I volunteer at DeLand Middle School working with boys basketball, which has helped me develop leadership, communication, and men

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through both basketball and volunteering. As a player, I’ve learned how to lead by example, stay disciplined, and support my teammates on and off the court. My experience volunteering at DeLand Middle School has strengthened my ability to mentor younger players and work with different personalities. I’ve also built responsibility

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a strong basketball program and good academics. I want to continue developing as a defensive, high-energy guard while studying toward a career in children’s nursing. I’m looking for a school that supports hard work, teamwork, and growth on and off the court.
