As the No. 2 seed and defending state champions, New Smyrna Beach enters its matchup with No. 3 seed Springstead carrying both experience and expectation. Springstead’s 23 wins have come against a lighter schedule, while New Smyrna Beach has been battle-tested all year, and Riley’s experience in big moments will be crucial in making that difference show. Whether it’s knocking down a timely three, crashing the glass for a key rebound, or contesting and blocking a shot on the defensive end, her impact may show up in the plays that swing momentum. She must take smart shots, stay aggressive on the boards, and lead vocally and by example on a deep roster built for this stage. In a Sweet 16 game where poise and execution matter most, Riley’s championship experience and two-way presence could be what sends New Smyrna Beach back to the region finals.

Riley is a glue piece that does the right things to help her team succeed. She finds the gaps and holes in the defense and is constantly cutting and moving without the ball in her hands to keep the defense honest. Her shooting ability and efficiency paired with her size and length make her a really difficult matchup as she can torch the nets.

looked good at the early Showcase. France showcased a nice shooting form and touch. In addition to shooting, the young forward showed and ability to put the ball down and attack the rim. Is very good at running the floor and has very good hands. France uses her height to score on the inside. She runs the floor very well and knows what to do when she gets the ball. On one play, France caught a bullet pass from half court with all hands. She gathered herself, and finished with a contested layup. France doesn’t mind the physicality it takes to win at the rim.

Riley is an incredibly versatile player in the 2027 class. Standing at 5’11, she is long and can use that versatility to guard multiple positions or create a mismatch on offense. She’s one of the best shooters in the class and moves well without the ball to find that open spot for a good look. Riley runs the floor well and seems to have a good feel for the game in the few times I’ve seen her live.
