Quick trigger, long ranged and fearless. Pierce just gets after it on the court. Behind the arc is where she truly stands out. The lefty has the fluidity to shoot immediately off the catch, the length to shoot a couple feet back from the arc and the courage to shoot it when it’s needed. A program necessity.

Layla Pierce Layla Pierce Layla Pierce 5'7" | CG Homewood-Flossmoor | 2024 State IL had herself a weekend. Pierce, a 5’7 combo guard, really lives up to the phrase, “combo guard”, as she can really play the 1, 2, or 3 for whatever team she is on. This weekend she showed off her impressive handle, deep range from three, and toughness on the defensive side of the ball. There were a few occasions throughout the weekend where her team could have fallen apart and taken loses in big moments but she didn’t let that happen, leading this group to an overall 3-1 record in Pool A. There is a lot to like about Pierce and her game. She has a good head on her shoulders and understands basketball. If she keeps it simple, she is going to continue to be successful as a GameChanger on the court game-in and game-out.

In her first game of the day, LP lit the net up from behind the arc. The lefty sniper uses her size, handles & speed to get where she needs to go to either get the shot off quick, or attack the basket. Game 2 was no different before she went down with a ankle injury after hitting the 3 to get her team back in the game.  Pierce has the energy (both sides), discipline and awareness to run a team from the point position, or go combo and put numbers on the board.
