The Roseville guard had one of the most explosive first steps I saw all day. She consistently showed the ability to get a defender on her hip and turn the corner, but what impressed me just as much was what happened after she created that advantage. Once she got past the initial defender, she rarely seemed rushed. More times than not, she made the right basketball play, whether that meant continuing to the rim and creating an opportunity for herself or recognizing the help and finding an open teammate. She brought that same energy to the defensive end, competing and applying pressure without taking possessions off. What stood out most was how natural everything looked. There wasn’t a lot of wasted movement or hesitation to her game. She played with an effortless quality, trusting her first step, reacting to what the defense gave her, and making plays within the flow of the game. The explosiveness catches your attention, but her ability to make the right play after creating an advantage is what made her stand out.

The way she slid and jumped was so smooth you’d swear she was dancing. Love showed near-perfect footwork with well-controlled jumping, while keeping balance and creating multiple scoring opportunities. At one point in the match, Love recaptured the ball and effortlessly weaved in and out of the opposing defense all the way to the end of the court. She quickly balanced herself, jumped, shot the ball, and made the basket.

Now her real secret weapon is her seemingly eternal stamina. When the match was coming to a close, you could see her opponents dropping like flies, with their energy completely spent. But not Love, she just kept going and going. Love knew the exact moments when she needed to push hard, and when she needed to reserve her energy. Last but certainly not least of her attributes, is her pure enthusiasm. Whether she was on the court or on the bench, Love never missed an opportunity to cheer on her teammates. She would frequently be seen joining in chanting ‘Defence!’ when she was on the bench to hype up her teammates who were on the court.

Walker is an active, confident point guard who brings flair and feel to the position. Quick with the ball and smooth in her movements, Love plays with a calm swagger that stands out immediately for an 8th grader. Her handle is advanced for her age, allowing her to get downhill – especially from the right side – and create scoring opportunities. Walker also showed excellent court vision, delivering accurate long passes in transition and demonstrating a rare ability to make precise post entry passes again and again. She averaged nearly six points and six rebounds per game this winter while leading the Tigers in assists and recording 44 steals. A poised, creative playmaker with real upside, Walker is a prospect we’ll be watching.
