Honestly, in all the years we’ve watched her compete, I don’t recall McGriff ever really having a bad day. What you see is what you get and Sunday was no exception. The 5’10 forward from Roseville punishes defenders inside, bullies her way through contact for powerful finishes, then steps outside and knocks down shots from deep. Try matching her physicality and Kiyanah shows you the skill set of a guard. McGriff is particularly impressive when pressure increases, taking responsibility as a ball handler and making composed decisions rather than waiting for someone else to solve the problem. She plays every matchup with an edge and combines strength with skill, bounce and a relentless motor. Ranked among Minnesota’s top 50 juniors, Kiyanah showed at The Expo exactly why she’s such a difficult opponent.

While she’s listed as a power forward, much of McGriff’s game resembles that of a guard. She’s skilled with the ball in her hands, can easily score off the bounce, and is a proficient shooter from the outside. On top of all that, Kiyanah has the strength and size needed to hold her own in the paint. After averaging 14.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game as a sophomore, we’re looking forward to seeing what the Roseville post has in store this season.

McGriff is a versatile forward with size, strength, and a physical edge. She opened the Sophomore ID Camp on Sunday morning with a smooth three-pointer, showing off her expanded skill set. McGriff quickly followed up by scoring inside and rebounding with force. Confident and vocal, McGriff averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds in high school last season over a tough 4A schedule. Kiyanah’s steady growth since we first saw her way back in 2023 reflects her work ethic and potential as a Top 50 sophomore.

If you saw our list of 10 top performers following the Showcase then you already know that McGriff had a great day. She certainly looks ready for a productive high school season, as well. Her size, strength and physical presence should fit right in with the Roseville varsity for whom she made eight appearances last year. Kiyanah is assertive, she is aggressive, and she plays with a bit of an edge. She’s also got skill with the ability to make shots and score down low. From the time we first saw McGriff at the Fall Exclusive in 2023 to last Sunday, the growth in her game is palpable. She’s vocal, confident and is poised for a breakout season.
