Johnson was highly effective for Team 6, using her sound fundamentals and work ethic to impact the game in a variety of ways. The 5’9 guard’s high basketball IQ was evident on the defensive end, where she used her physicality and quick feet to make things difficult for the other team. Lucy also blocked shots without fouling and gambled for steals at the right times. On the offensive end the Benilde-St. Margaret’s junior showcased her proficient three-point shooting, unselfish passing, and ability to create movement away from the ball. As the Red Knights enter a new era this winter, it looks like Johnson’s patience may finally pay off.

#91 – Lucy is sneaky good. We say that because she has operated under the high school radar so far in a stacked Benilde-St. Margaret’s program. Even in AAU her contributions don’t bring you out of your seat. Johnson’s impact on the game, however, is undeniable. She has good size, quality skills, nice handles and a willingness to do the selfless little things that win basketball games. Lucy’s energy is impressive on both sides of the ball. She may not be in the spotlight yet but Johnson’s upside is high.

The 5’10 Johnson plays with great energy and gets after it on both sides of the ball. She handles the ball well and made good decisions whether it was setting up a teammate or looking for her own shot. She also does the things that go unnoticed, whether it was setting solid screens or getting the hockey assist that led to a basket. Benilde is loaded with talent, so we’ll have to wait and see how things shake out for Johnson this upcoming season, but her long-term potential is solid.
