Madison Pounds leads the offense for NC GBB knowing how to move the ball, make her own cuts, and attack the basket.  She has nice range shooting the ball knocking it down from all over the perimeter.  She hustled back on defense blocking shots on fast breaks protecting the basket.  She gets inside going after rebounds, too.

Madison Pounds is such a tough guard on both ends of the court.  She likes to play an increased tempo pushing the ball up the court and making sharp passes to her teammates.  She can attack the basket herself scoring through contact, and she can set herself up around the perimeter creating her own space to score three.  On the other end, she doesn’t back down from guarding the opposing team’s best player keeping them in front of her stripping the ball away to push the turnover the other direction.

Madison Pounds has been a leader for her teams even before she was a senior.  She’s a phenomenal ball handler controlling the tempo, making sharp passes to her teammates, and setting herself up for shots all over the court.  Her ability to run a high speed offense is sure to translate well to the collegiate level.  Another thing that sets her apart is her ability to play both ends of the court with high intensity throughout every game she plays being sure to guard a tough opponent stripping the ball away from them to take the other direction.

Hofstra is getting a very  rare player in this defensive specialist. If you believe defense wins championships then Maddie Pounds is the player to watch. She does an unbelievable job in her ball denial as she does a great job keeping PG’s away from the ball and making them uncomfortable when they do get the ball. Excellent lateral quickness and she can meet her opponents at the point of attack which causes headaches for opponents who are looking to run the offense. She forces teams to consistently screen her off the PG in order for the PG to get any breathing room. She takes up space, very pesky and an absolute joy to watch if you enjoy old school, physical defense. However, don’t be fooled as Maddie can more than hold her own on the offensive end. Pounds averaged over 12 ppg last season for NC GBB and is a terrific guard who can get to the lane and finish.

Madison Pounds has turned herself into one of the most consistent high level guards in the state.  She is sure to knock down her shot from deep anywhere around the perimeter, and she can do so off the dribble or the pass.  She elevates her teammates around her pushing the tempo and making sharp passes to them.  She is shifty with the ball, and it’s like she uses her IQ of moves to do on the offensive side of the ball to help her strip the ball from opposing guards when she’s on defense.

Madison Pounds Madison Pounds 5'10" | PG NC GBB | 2024 State NC was excellent attacking the basket and battling through contact for the finish.  She didn’t back down from knocking the ball away from opponents trying to drive by her.  She doesn’t hesitate to dive on the floor getting the loose balls either finding ways to secure the possession for her team.

Maddie has made it clear this weekend that her name must be mentioned when speaking of North Carolina’s premier defenders.   Maddie locks right into her opponents hip, not allowing them any room to breathe. Her constant harassment forces turnovers which lead to easy baskets for her teammates. Her length at the position causes problems and she is not easy to get by. Maddie can truly control the pace of the game but she has a very quick first step that she uses to get by defenders when she needs to.

Pounds and her teammates went (4-0) on the weekend here at the Prep Girls Hoops Triumph Region Kick Off. Madison does a nice job of handling the rock in the backcourt and making plays for herself and her teammates. She really keeps the ball on a string at times while attacking the gaps and touching the paint. Madison feels comfortable dropping in the mid-range jumper at times.

Pounds brings good versatility to the floor with her ability to defend multiple positions.

Pounds and her teammates cruised in the opener tonight here in Spartanburg. Madison finished with 14 points in the win. She really keeps the ball on a string at times in the backcourt. Pounds does a nice job of setting up her teammates and directing on the floor. She is a tough kid who really makes tough plays at times. Madison was able to connect on some short jumpers this evening for the Carolina All-Stars.

Madison Pounds is a full court player showing IQ and aggressiveness on both ends.  On defense, she is quick to knock the ball away from her opponents and grab the steal that converts to points for her team.  Her quickness is apparent on offense as she is constantly moving to find the gaps, get the ball, and knock down her shot.  She attacks the basket well filling the lanes easily to score some points, and she finds her open teammates easily for their own points.
