Expert Analysis

Naimah’s explosive burst as a slasher, scrappy ball-pressure and lateral quickness, court vision, passing dexterity, and ability to finish with touch in the paint have caught our attention over the years, but it was her deadly accuracy as a perimeter shooter that came rolling through the PGH MI College Tour III like a title wave. It felt like she was shredding the nets from three every game. She attacked hard downhill for an and-one bucket, used a quick rip move to get by and drop in a floater, knocked down two corner threes, and added a shifty inside-out step back triple from the slot. Naimah created space to dish out an entry pass assist to a back cutter and put ball-handlers on the perimeter. I made a note of her great ball pressure; she drained a straightaway step back three after a shifty cross-jab move, two more threes from the wing and up top, and chased down rebounds. Naimah’s performance over the weekend earned her an All-Tournament First Team selection and proved that she’s a top-tier point guard prospect in the state. Big-time 2027 stock riser over the weekend.

Naimah elevated her play in the second half to spearhead a comeback win for Mercy. She pushed the gas pedal to the floor, accelerated through the lane, and used a graceful high pick-up move with a veer finish to score the tough layup through contact. Naimah completed the three-point play at the line. She drilled a corner three and heaved a left-handed full-court pass on the money for an assist. Naimah’s pressure in the press caused challenges for the opponent, and she knocked down key free throws to preserve the victory.

Naimah has explosive speed when she takes the ball to the basket–defenders struggled to stay in front of her at Oakland Elite Camp. One of Naimah’s highlight reel plays happened when she stole the ball, turned on the jets, and used a high-pick up eurostep to score a full-speed reverse. She changed directions with a crossover to score another reverse and finished a strong and-one layup in top gear. Naimah finished multiple full-speed layups with both hands and was one of the best slashers at camp.

At the Cagers Invitational, Naimah had the speed, handles, and instincts you look for in a lead guard. She swiped the ball away with her quick hands on defense and raced down the floor to score a full-speed layup. One of Naimah’s strengths is her ability to create separation to shimmy past defenders using a variety of crossover dribbles and attack gaps. She shifted into top gear and scored acrobatic finishes with great touch using either hand. Naimah made strong kick-out passes to perimeter shooters when help defenders committed to her dribble–her competitive fire, toughness, and sleight of hand with the ball have been exciting to watch during high school and now travel with Michigan Storm Elite 2027.

Naimah brought her competitive edge to the gym on Sunday and had an impressive day for Mercy at Big Cat fall league. She swiped the ball away on defense, turned on the jets to score a strong and-one layup off the dribble, and converted her free throw. Naimah smoothly transferred the ball in her hands to hit an off-balance contested floater and hit the floor to fight for 50/50 balls. Her toughness and quickness sideline to sideline stood out.

Naimah recently picked up an offer from Davenport and it’s not because she rocks the awesome throwback knee-high socks. Naimah creates space from defenders using a combination of punch steps, jabs, and retreat dribbles. She hits contested floaters off the bounce with either hand, has a smooth step-back jumper, and competes with high effort on defense. Naimah knocks down 3s and will keep impressing as she fine-tunes her outside game. Naimah will be an exciting point guard to watch with the Marlins this winter.
