About Aaliyah
Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Aaliyah came to Wayne Memorial and instantly contributed as a dynamic two-way impact player. Her lateral quickness and on-ball pressure is outstanding. She turns the ball, forces turnovers, and doesn’t even need to use her hands to help. Aaliyah has speed in the open court, shifty handles, and explosiveness off the bounce that make her very effective as a slasher. She finishes well in traffic, has deep range as a shooter, and distributes the ball effectively. Definitely a point guard to follow with Michigan Storm Elite 17U at the PGH MI College Tour III.

Aaliyah spent her sophomore season in North Carolina, and we’re very excited to have her back in Michigan. She’s shifty and a dynamic playmaker worthy of a high ranking. Aaliyah is equally effective at driving by defenders to score around the basket and pulling up to bury perimeter shots. Her quick feet on defense, vision, handles, toughness, and polished offensive skills make her an elite point guard prospect in the class. She’s having a huge season for Wayne Memorial.

Aaliyah is back in Michigan for good and she’s having a memorable season for Wayne Memorial. She consistently cut off athletic ball-handlers with her fast feet and lateral quickness to disrupt the opponent’s offensive flow. Aaliyah accelerated through the gap on a drive, pivoted, stepped-through, changed hands, and dropped in a tough left-handed floater off two feet. She scored a sweet rock-the-baby opposite hand finish and buried a smooth three-pointer in the deep slot off the bounce. Aaliyah created space with her shifty crossover combinations, penetrated the defense with a dribble burst, and dished out assists. She poured in 11 points at the West Michigan Hoop Summit in a statement win.

is a PG who stood out to me early in the spring and did so once again at the Memorial Day Shootout for
Michigan Crossover EYCL
2027 this weekend. Aaliyah is a shifty guard whose vision is a strength. Her wow moment came when she attacked the basket on a drive to draw to defenders and then deliver a baseline wrap-around assist to her teammate. Aaliyah has range to hit shots outside and off mid-range pull-ups. She proved her toughness to finish through a foul in the lane and knocked down her free throw.

Michigan Crossover 2027-EYBL first caught my attention during the LBI HS Showcase in a varsity game against Dexter because of her outstanding on ball defense and dynamic ball handling. I saw her use excellent vision and ball vision at the Battle in the Mitten earlier this spring, while showing deep 3 point range. I am very excited to see her compete in person again at the Memorial Day Shootout.
