knows her role. Her role is to shoot the basketball off the catch from deep off of other guard’s creation. Baldwin can handle somewhat herself but she is at her best when she is hitting deep shots on the outside. Last night, Baldwin came into the game and did what she was suppose to. She hit her first two 3-pointers from the Wing and she followed that up with lacing another down the stretch when the Rams were making a run. Like I said above, anyone and everyone that can help take pressure off Williams is going to be very important for the Hawks as we move into the end of February. Baldwin needs to continue to play her role and she will love where it leads this group in the end. When they can spread the floor and hit shots from deep, they are very tough to guard in reality.

is shooting well of the catch from the outside, the Ankeny team is very dangerous. They have 2-3 others that can step up to make consistent buckets but when Baldwin is feeling herself, it adds a whole new dimension to their offensive play-style. Baldwin has been doing her part in this aspect for most of the Winter and now the only question is, can she continue to ride that momentum into the Playoff’s as they look to make some waves across the State. I think the answer is yes. As long as she keeps it calm, cool, and collected – I don’t see why anything would change but we will have to wait and see how it all plays out.

of Ankeny High School is leading everyone at an astonishing 74.9%. Baldwin is just making the most of what she is given. She is taking open shots, making them, and playing hard on defense in the best way she can. She might not be launching 7-10 three pointers a game but that’s okay. She is being used as needed and she is making it work. If she keeps that up, it’s only going to help Ankeny as they try to make a big run one the Playoffs begin here shortly.

has been doing her job to a T this Winter in some impactful moments. Baldwin would be considered a 5’11 SG, who primarily works off of the catch on the WIng. Most of the time you see Baldwin letting it fly from deep. She likes to shoot it and she does has a pretty nice shot when she has time and space. With the prospects that Ankeny possesses, Baldwin just needs to play her role. If she can hit open shots all Winter long, then defenses can’t help onto their other star players, which will make them tough to guard as a whole. As for Baldwin individually, she should be fine when she gets to the NAIA level. If she is dedicated to the game, she will continue to grow as she gets older and so will her play-style.

was a player of conversation because of her transfer. Well, I wasn’t really sure how this would all go but it’s been pretty impressive. Baldwin has came into the Ankeny system and she is thriving. Mainly, she is hitting a ton of jumpers from outside the three point line in some pretty big moments. This has always been Baldwin’s best ability but now she is really killing her role within this new program. The Hawks have some competitors. They are a roster with multiple D1 recruits so as long as production like this continues, who knows how far they could push things this season. As for Baldwin, I hope this recent success has opened the eyes of a lot of recruiters across the state of Iowa. She obviously has the talent level in some capacity to take things to the college level. It’s just about finding the correct fit.

vs Valley on Tuesday, it would be knockdown. The six-foot shooter was 4/6 from deep vs. the Tigers and is shooting a team high 52% from behind the arc thus far this year. Baldwin’s shots weren’t just catch and shoot threes, either – she is smooth off the dribble, can create space off the shot fake and side step, and no matter how much pressure you think you put on her, it’s probably not enough – that shot is still going up. She uses her size to her advantage too with some strong seals and had a smooth scoop finish at the rim. I predict many more threes is Baldwin’s future this season.

A very talented 6’0″ post player from Iowa who was displaying her versatile skill set at any spot on the floor. She was using her strength and footwork to work out in the low post. She also took her game out of the perimeter where she was a capable ball handler and passer. She was also hitting 3-pointers off the catch. She is definitely a matchup problem.

, giving them some dominant firepower down next to other basket. It’s all going to boil down to using Baldwin in the correct ways and their team finding stable offense but if they can do that, they will have a chance for a state appearance before the seasons finishes out. They will have two D1 prospects on their side with some other notable difference makers like Baldwin. As long as their strategy is solid, they could shock a lot of teams in the near future in the right circumstance.

is slowly coming into her own on the hardwood and that has been obvious this AAU season. Baldwin is a player that has some solid height and fundamental knowledge of the game of basketball. She is slowly growing her offensive arsenal, while also being a lock down defender in her own right. She does a great job of jumping to the basketball on the defensive end of things and that really stands out in each contest she plays. She is slowly demonstrating that she can step out and hit shots from the perimeter from deep but she is also someone that can score near the basket. If she keeps up with this type of expansion to her game, she is going to catch a lot of eyes over this next year. She is someone that seems really dedicated and in love with the game of basketball so it wouldn’t surprise me to see her in some sort of collegiate jersey once her high school career comes to an end at this point.

was a freshman I would have told you that she is going to be a solid center in Iowa high school basketball. As time has gone on, I am seeing Baldwins game expand to more of a forward type position. Baldwin this AAU season showed that she is going to be a player this winter that can dominate in the post, or pop out to the three point line for a nice jump-shot. Defenses will have to game plan for Baldwin and her Perry high school team each night. If they don’t and Perry runs some good action down the floor, Baldwin is going to EAT against some teams. As for AAU season, she was definitely one of the best from the forward/center position that I saw compete at the 15U age level this season.
