Ruby was a player I had not seen prior to the week, but after I saw Sanford Sports playa against the Michigan Mystics I had to watch them again later in the week as I do not get to see teams from the Dakotas often. Moore was easily one of the very best point guards I saw over the course of the five days that teams played. The South Dakota State commit was excellent in every facet of the game. Specifically, Moore was very good against the pressure and physical style applied by United New Jersey. Players from both teams were allowed to get away with a lot of contact, but Moore not only played through it, but was able to break that full court trapping defense and gets easy points with the numerical advantage in her team’s favor. One play in particular she was caught with two defenders coming at here right before crossing half court, Ruby used her escape dribble, put it in reverse, and was able to get around the two defenders creating a 5 on 3 situation for Sanford in which they scored. She was also very good finding and hitting her teammates in stride and shooting position from all areas and angles in the half court. When left open, Ruby punished both teams by knocking down multiple shots from the perimeter. I am not sure what her total was in the two games I watched, but it felt like she made more shots than she missed. She is a very good athlete and used her speed and quickness to elude and allow by defenders with relative ease before finishing at the rim.

Every time I watch Moore play, I come away with the same conclusion: this is what a point guard is supposed to look like. The Sioux Falls O’Gorman standout and South Dakota State commit controlled the action all weekend, setting the pace and putting teammates in position to succeed. Ruby’s handle remains one of the best you’ll find anywhere, and her feel for the game is so instinctual. She plays with an even temperament, but don’t mistake that for a lack of competitiveness. Moore is relentless when it comes to winning. She can score from anywhere on the floor, shoots it well from deep, and consistently makes the right decision. Simply put, she’s a true floor general. Ruby averaged 12.5 points per game at Summer Jam as the 17U Black squad put together an outstanding run.

Ruby is another really talented prospect who rounds out our top three with D1 offers already in hand (South Dakota State and South Dakota). She is teaming up this summer with Lauryn (above) at Team Warwick . This group is one of the most talented AAU squads in the Midwest right now at the 15U level. She’s a deadly scorer who can knock down threes with ease and has a really nice mid-range game to go with it. She has excellent handles and a rare ability to create her own shot off the dribble. A tall ask for defenders to stop she has great explosiveness to go with a plethora of dribble moves to blow by and get to the basket. A scoring point guard she understands the value of shot selection and makes the right play time and time again. On defense she has active hands and converts a lot of turnovers to points with a speedy transition game. Keep your eye on Ruby as she competes this winter to try and help her Sioux Falls O’Gorman squad repeat as state champs!

Ruby is a star in the making for the Knights with a basketball IQ off the charts for her age and an impressive skillset. Her offensive game features the ability to knock down perimeter shots as well as create off the dribble for herself and others. She is lightning quick and her decision-making and confidence are equally impressive. She has no fear and isn’t afraid of the big moment, looking primed for a great high school basketball career and beyond.
