In a recent tournament, Clayton’s whole skillset was on display. The number one thing that jumps out about her is her effort. On defense their is never a moment she is not engaged. She is locked in and is not afraid to pick up and defend full court. Her speed allows her to do this, and her persistent defense often generates mistakes from her opponent.

Clayton’s speed on defense is also seen on the offensive side of the ball when she is dribbling. She is always pushing the pace, looking to find a way to get a bucket, whether it be herself or by passing to an open teammate. Clayton, in a recent tournament, also made several threes. She has a fairly quick shot that allows her to stop on a dime and convert perimeter shots.

A true competitor who can anticipate with the best of them. She reads things well and acts upon them quickly. Being in a helpside position, she can bait someone into thinking someone is open, and boom, she grabs the ball in mid-air and is off to the races. This is just a small example of how she thinks and processes during a basketball game. She is a 3-level scoring threat that can get to the rim or spot up on the perimeter. She can handle the ball, playing with poise and positioning herself to make the right play. Still not a finished product, this kid has a high ceiling and will continue to get better. A solid piece to the MJ ballclub.

Ryleigh Clayton Ryleigh Clayton 5'5" | PG Mt. Juliet | 2029 TN was a standout for the day at the Nashville Shootout. She’s a point guard with a quick first step on the drive. If you blink, you will miss her because she moves like lightning. She displays great court vision as she consistently finds open teammates and plays with excellent pace. And she doesn’t stop there. I watched as she gave all-out hustle on defense. She’s a great teammate to run and gun with. I’m sure a lot more is to come with this one!

Quick kid who will be a problem on defense. She is going to stay in people’s grill, as defense is her calling card. She is going to be a pest on that end of the floor. Offensively, she is a heady distributor who handles the rock well, makes the right reads, and can score at will from multiple spots on the floor. Look for her to come in and contribute to the Lady Bears program, which is looking to take the next steps towards state contention.
