About Sydney

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'd say my gameplay style is classic. I'm not a glitz and glam player. I'm quick, poised, paced and make smart decisions as a floor general. I want to be known for #1 being an all around team player that makes quality plays and gets buckets.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality and personality is "don't sweat the small stuff", what I mess up today I'll regroup and get better at 2nd half but I'm still gonna give it my all in other ways. I'd say I'm very even keeled. I'm an old soul. I'm also a little goofy. I think that quality allows me to not be too serious where I don't know how to enjoy life and the game I love.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I help in the community with America's Big Sisters a mentorship organization for girls as well as the special Olympics. I'm also an Honor roll student and have received numerous honor roll awards.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed quite a few qualities on this journey. I would say I've learned to be a leader and motivate my team to have a Winning mindset and adopt a sense of Teamwork. I've recently been more involved in community service and developing that quality.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of the challenges I struggle with is doubt. Many see me because of my small stature and doubt my abilities. I'm constantly having to prove myself but it just makes me work harder. I embrace it.

What type of college are you looking for?

Honestly, I'm trying to decide that now. My goal is to major in sports journalism with a minor in business so I'll have to see what schools offer what I'm looking for and decide from there. I want a school that will support my academics and Athletics so I can actively pursue both and have balance.

Sydney Youngblood Sydney Youngblood Sydney Youngblood 5'9" | PG/CG Catholic | 2029 State VA stood out immediately and was a tone-setter on both ends of the floor. Youngblood was impressive with her ability to score the ball from the perimeter and at the rim. Her fearlessness is scary and impressive- she is only in 9th grade. On defense she plays with advanced on-ball instincts and applies consistent pressure to make life difficult for opposing guards. Offensively, she attacked downhill, drew fouls, and shot it well from the perimeter, and showed good awareness kicking the ball out to shooters when help arrived. Youngblood is a guard who is composed, elite, and was one of the top young players in the entire building.
