Smith does a nice job keeping the ball alive while running the offense- and boy does she give the team multiple chances to score because of her rebounding! Opponents better box her out! Terrific cross-over and on ball pressure defense!

A tough physical guard who competed at a high level. Used her body well to protect the ball and attacked the lane to create opportunities. Played with the maturity of an upperclassman and brought strong defensive intensity every possession. Her competitiveness set a tone and
consistently raised the level of her teammates in a playoff environment.

What Yanni will continue to bring to Whitney Young is relentlessness on both ends of the floor. She’s a player who can score in bunches while being impactful on the boards, and there are many possessions where she plays like the biggest on the court. Defensively, she’ll put pressure on all of her matchups.

Whitney Young has a couple of freshmen on their program that could keep things going forward over the next couple of years. Yanni is for sure one of them. Watching her play on Monday, you can tell she has some flair and aggression to her. She’s quick, relentless, and has some sharp footwork on both sides of the ball.

Slow is fast is a term that a lot of people in this line of work use to explain a certain type of player. When someone is moving smoothly and effortlessly with the basketball, making it seem like they almost “float” through their moves, that’s when this term comes into play. Someone who I’ve had the chance to evaluate in the past, who plays this way is Shooting Guard,

. Smith will be someone else competing up an age level with the 15U Midwest Meanstreets EYBL team this weekend and I’m excited to see what she does. Smith has the ability to go off at any moment. She is the type that can come out and score 35 points or she can dish out 12 assists and grab 7 boards. It just depends how motivated she is and how she is feeling. If she is playing her game and with full confidence, she should have one of the best weekends there as a whole.
