Throughout the week we will be posting evaluations of 20 players by class (as voted on by Instagram followers) each day culminating with 10 evaluations of 2023s on Friday. This is a look at 10 more players in the 2022 class who I either thought played really well or I haven’t talked much about yet this summer. You can see all of the coverage from this weekend previously posted below.
Hannah Stuelke — 6’1 PF — All Iowa Attack EYBL 2021 / CR Washington HS (IA)
Stuelke is the top player in the 2022 class, and for good reason. She’s a smooth and quick forward who glides to the basket effortlessly. Good defender who has the ability to get steals and finish at the other end. Stuelke isn’t afraid to get others involved with her passing ability and is a dynamic two-way player. Committed to Iowa.
Ivey Schmidt — 5’7 PG/SG — Iowa Intensity 2022 / Grinnell HS (IA)
Schmidt was the first kid that stood out to me this weekend and for good reason. She’s a high motor player who plays tough all the time. Really good scorer of the ball and scores it well at all three levels on the floor. Really solid motor and willingness to compete for the loose balls. Should have a lot of potential to be a big component for Grinnell this winter.
Kayla Grall — 5’9 PF — Team Wisconsin Smith 2022 / Dubuque Senior HS (IA)
Grall was a player who I had not yet seen this summer but was really impressed with the skill that she showed on the floor. I love her ability to score the ball with both hands at the basket and her willingness to stay with plays as they break down. Good basketball IQ and has a knack for making plays on both ends of the floor.
Kylie Rigby — 5’6 PG — All Iowa Attack National Bell 2022 / Ballard HS (IA)
Rigby really reminds me of starting Ballard point guard Molly Ihle. Both are really good players who fly under the spotlight a bit. Rigby has a very good motor to go along with her skill around the rim. She is also a very good passer of the ball and tends to throw players open down the floor. She likes to push the ball in transition as well.
Macie Downing — 5’7 SG/PG — All Iowa Attack National Bell 2022 / Johnston HS (IA)
Downing has a great weekend this past weekend and is a player who is really starting to improve. She has a really solid frame with the ability to add a little bit more strength onto her frame. Good attacking the basket but also a solid vocal leader on the floor. Her skill is still developing and once she grabs all of that potential is really going to be a solid player in the class.
Malayna Kiel — 5’9 SF/PF — Iowa Prep Black 2022 / Oelwein HS (IA)
Kiel is a mobile forward who is going to be really good as she’s a bit raw right now. She’s got an innate ability to score the ball at the rim and showed flashes of being really good this weekend. Seems to have a good head on her shoulders and likes to attack the rim. Would love to see where she is at in a year from now.
Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda — 5’10 SF — All Iowa Attack EYBL 2021 / O’Gorman HS (SD)
Mwenentanda is a player with a ton of potential. She is so long and has an insane wingspan. Love her toughness and ability to make plays happen. The skill isn’t all there quite yet but you can see that it is starting to shine through. Still a touch raw but knows the game really well and is a player who once she harnesses the skill, is going to be a top player in South Dakota.
Sarah Albaugh — 5’4 PG/SG — Iowa Prep Red 2022 / Cedar Falls HS (IA)
Albaugh had a really good freshman year starting on a loaded team and she is going to be even better this year. Super solid scoring guard who can handle it and push the ball up the floor. Really nice feel for the game along with a good knowledge of how to move effectively on the floor. Always is finding the open spots to get her shot off or rip a pass to her teammate.
Sophia Hoffman — 5’6 PG — Iowa Prep Red 2022 / Dike New-Hartford HS (IA)
Hoffman is another really solid guard for Dike New-Hartford and had a solid weekend with Iowa Prep Red. Good playmaker with the ball in her hands and has the ability to get things done quickly on the floor. She holds a really good ability to get to the rim and score the ball while still finding her teammates for easy baskets. Really solid player with potential.
Tori Meinecke — 6′ PF/SF — All Iowa Attack National Bell 2022 / North Mercer HS (MO)
Meinecke is starting to become one of my favorite players to watch play in the 2022 class. She’s an agile forward who can stretch her game out to the perimeter at times. Love the aggression that she shows on the floor. Outstanding rebounder who really goes out and makes plays happen. Meinecke has a knack for scoring in traffic and will only get better with added strength.
