The commonwealth state’s rankings had some major changes in the 2020 class. Players have stepped up this season to make their mark. As the season winds down we will take a look at the top wing/small forwards in the class.
Stephanie Ouderkirk – 6’2″ – Wing – Spottswood
Stephanie OuderkirkStephanie has had a streak of winning at a high level. The wing from Spottswood went straight of a Virginia State Championship last season to a Nike Nationals Championship over the summer. The James Madison University commit will try and help the Dukes get another CAA title but, as the season winds down Spottswood should be in the hunt to repeat. Stephanie has a good inside out game as she has expanded her perimeter game over the past year. Defensively she can guard pretty much every position on the floor. Her versatility is a big reason she snagged the top spot in the class.
Bri Johns – 5’11” – Wing – Edison
Bri has been doing work and putting up some nice numbers for Edison. She has been pretty consistent knocking down shots from beyond the arc and can get to the basket and finish. She is effective with her back to the basket and is a very good rebounder.
Meghan Kenefick – 6’0″ – Wing – Paul VI
Meghan KenefickMeghan is one of the best shooting and passing wings in the class. She is disciplined and very seldom takes a bad shot. She has size to go inside and will attack when she sees an open lane. Beyond the arc is where she presents the biggest challenge for defenders. She can knock down shots in bunches and creates a mismatch for bigs that can’t stretch their defense beyond fifteen feet.
Isabella Middleton – 5’9″ – Wing – Tuscarora
Isabella has been on tear this season racking up double-doubles. At 5’9″ she is one of the better rebounders in the class and possibly the best in the state under 5’10”. She is strong and physical but has a lot of athleticism to run the floor and get by defenders.
Kylah Franklin – 5’11” – Wing – Bishop Ireton
Kylah FranklinKylah may be the most underrated player in the DMV. She has a lot of tools in her bag from 13′ in and has very good elevation on her shot. She works hard on both ends and is really good on the offensive glass. She is a capable scorer when she is being fed the ball. Once she expands her range she will be very hard to stop.
