5A Quarterfinal: #1 Iowa City High (61) vs. #4 Johnston (71) Box Score Iowa City High got off to a good start as they led by five points at the end of the opening quarter. The score held at 21-16 until the 5:27 mark of the second quarter when freshman Molly Noelck



5A Quarterfinal: #1 Waukee (88) vs. #6 Waterloo West (65) Box Score Waterloo West got off to a good start early on as they held the lead midway through the first quarter. After that Waukee got hot and seemed like they couldn’t could not miss a shot. They scored 57 points in the middle two quarters as they jumped out to a 30-point lead. Waukee led by as many as 34 points late in the game but Waterloo West was able to pull within 19 in the fourth quarter. Waukee made 15 3-pointers in the win as they routed Waterloo West for a date with Johnston in the 5A Championship. Leading Scorers Katie Dinnebier




3A Quarterfinal: #1 Dike-New Hartford (44) vs. North Polk (49) Box Score North Polk got off to a hot start early on in the game as they got out to a 6-0 run that Jaedon Murphy Jaedon Murphy 5'10" | PF North Polk | 2020 State IA was able to do herself. North Polk actually held a lead for the entire game until the end of the fourth quarter. They had an eight point lead in the first quarter before Dike-New Hartford was able to close that down a little bit. Dike-New Hartford took their first lead of the game with 4:42 left in the game after a Sophia Hoffman lay-up. Just 23 seconds later Maggie Phipps Maggie Phipps 5'10" | SG North Polk | 2021 State IA hit a 3-pointer from the wing and North Polk never again lost the lead. Down the stretch North Polk was 7-of-8 from the line and was capped off by Lucy Schaffer Lucy Schaffer 5'7" | PG North Polk | 2022 State IA ’s two free throws to put North Polk up by four points with five seconds left. North Polk heads back to the state championship after this win. 3A Quarterfinal: #2 Clear Lake (57) vs. Bishop Heelan (61) Box Score Clear Lake came out hot early on as it seemed like they could not miss a shot from the floor. They finished the first half 9-of-13 from beyond the arc and had a nine point lead. For Bishop Heelan they could hold their heads up at the fact that if Clear Lake didn’t hit a 3-pointer more often than not it was a turnover. Clear Lake had 11 turnovers which was equal to the number of shots they missed in the first half. Bishop Heelan made it a priority to get it in the paint in the second half and were able to draw fouls to get to the line. They scored 12 points in the paint in the third quarter and made it tough for Clear Lake to get any momentum going. Bishop Heelan led for 22 seconds in the first quarter and after they lost that lead they never got it back until there was 1:16 left in the game. 4A Quarterfinal: #1 North Scott (40) vs. #4 Center Point-Urbana (32) Box Score The first 4A quarterfinal game was a defensive battle as North Scott and Center Point-Urbana locked each other down. The score at the end of the first quarter was 7-7 and both teams didn’t have much more success in the second quarter as they went to the half with the score 18-7. Center Point-Urbana was defending the post entry pass very well early on and Grace Boffeli Grace Boffeli 6'1" | PF North Scott | 2020 State IA had a tough time receiving the ball in the post. North Scott adjusted and started to score the ball a little better in the second half as they shot 80 percent from the floor. Center Point-Uraba had a lead early in the game by six points but it slipped away as North Scott was just too much.
