First Team
Caroline Thiel (Rocky Mount forward, 2023)
Thiel ended up being the Gryphons top scorer and rebounder during the 2019-20 season. As a scorer, most of her damage was in the paint as she shot 51% from the field while averaging 17 points per game. She stepped out and knocked down a few threes throughout the season and also made a huge impact defensively (1.8 steals and 2.5 blocks per game). Rocky Mount finished 23-5 and advanced to the fourth round of the 3-A state playoffs thanks to Thiel’s consistent play.
Jermia Walker (Southern Nash guard, 2023)
While she’s short in stature, Walker made up for it in heart and toughness for the Firebirds. The Southern Nash freshman led her team in scoring at 11.4 points per game and steals at 3.9 per contest. Walker is an excellent passer and ball handler especially in transition which led to a lot of success for her team. She’ll be a great piece for that program as they look to improve on a 10-13 record from 2019-20.
Dee Graham (Rocky Mount guard, 2023)
Graham was an all-district performer for Rocky Mount this season as was their second leading scorer behind Thiel at 10.4 points per game. Most of her damage was done as a three point shooter where she excelled shooting 43% from beyond the arc. Graham is another part of a talented freshman class in Nash County that has made their presence felt across the area.
Destiny Anstead (Nash Central guard/forward, 2023)
Anstead made a lot of plays as a post and wing for the Bulldogs this season. Nash Central’s leading scorer (9.6 points per game) made a lot of plays off the dribble and passed the ball well. She is sure to be a big part of the Bulldogs program next year after helping her team reach the 2-A state playoffs in a tough Eastern Plains 2-A conference.
Hannah Evans (Northern Nash guard, 2021)
Evans played a huge role for Northern Nash as they went 17-8 and made an appearance in the 3-A state playoffs. As part of a balanced attack for the Knights, the junior guard was the teams second leading scorer 6.8 points per contest and led the team in assists at 2.4 per game. She did a little bit of everything for Northern Nash and will be a part of a really good returning group for the Knights next season.
Second Team
Ashanti Anstead (Nash Central guard/forward, 2021)
Alexis Moore (Rocky Mount guard, 2020)
Rayna Bailey (Southern Nash guard, 2020)
Kanasia Arrington (Northern Nash forward, 2021)
Nyla Powell (Rocky Mount forward, 2023)
