Many of the top players in the state of Iowa gathered at Kingdom Hoops for the Prep Girls Hoops Iowa Top 250 Expo in October. Games featured intense play throughout with athletes getting the opportunity to showcase themselves in front of college scouts while preparing for the start of the upcoming 2020-21 basketball season. With so many changes hitting due to the novel coronavirus, including many summer camps and tournaments being scrapped, the Prep Girls Hoops Iowa Top 250 Expo provided those players with a great chance. We will be offering up a recap from each game of the expo. [player_tooltip player_id="129023" first="Macy" last="Emgarten"], Exira-EHK (2022) It was quite the sophomore campaign for [player_tooltip player_id="129023" first="Macy" last="Emgarten"], as she led Exira-EHK in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and made three-pointers last winter. The Class of 2022 prospect flashed all those skills and more during the expo. Emgarten is an extremely tough matchup, checking in at 6-foot with the ability to bury the 3-ball. She shot 45 percent from deep a season ago and looks even better now getting up and down the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="164971" first="Jorja" last="Hanselman"], Van Meter (2021) Van Meter’s [player_tooltip player_id="164971" first="Jorja" last="Hanselman"] has continued to fine-tune her game over the past several months, looking to better her junior season for the Bulldogs. Hanselman started all 24 games, scoring 118 points with a team-leading 186 rebounds to go along with 17 assists, 17 steals and 16 blocked shots. A tall player that uses her size to make it difficult for opponents to score, Hanselman shows a nice touch from all areas of the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="13959" first="Arianna" last="Jackson"], Des Moines Roosevelt (2023) Lightning in a bottle would be a great way to describe [player_tooltip player_id="13959" first="Arianna" last="Jackson"]. The Des Moines Roosevelt Class of 2023 prospect landed on her feet last year, starting 20 games as a freshman and scoring 270 points with 112 rebounds, 30 assists, 19 steals and 46 made three-pointers. Jackson is an electric scorer, shooting 45 percent from the field and 42 percent from deep. She runs the floor with ease, can handle the fast break and has no problem going to her left or right to finish. [player_tooltip player_id="63061" first="Carlee" last="Rochford"], New Hampton (2023) The sky is the limit for [player_tooltip player_id="63061" first="Carlee" last="Rochford"], as the New Hampton standout looks to build off her fine freshman season. Rochford scored 273 points on 48 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent from the 3-point line, adding 113 rebounds, 48 assists, 35 blocks and 33 steals. Rochford is extremely athletic, as evident by her blocked shots, and displays college-level shooting range from deep. She is also the type of defender who will get in your face to shut you down. Hattie Hagedorn, North Scott (2023) Even as a freshman last winter, North Scott allowed Hattie Hagedorn to break into the rotation. She started two games, saw action in 18 and finished with 62 points, 23 assists, 18 rebounds and seven steals. Hagedorn flashes great ball movement and has excellent speed that allows her to transition from offense to defense quickly.
