Now that the season is complete, I wanted to circle back and offer up a handful of awards based on how everyone in Class 3A performed throughout the 2020-2021 season. As it specifically concerns the All-State teams, my decision was an equal-parts judgement call that factored in a combination of skill, ability, individual statistics, and team success from this specific season. With regards to the Freshman (2024) class, I created a specific All-State team and Freshman of the Year award just for them, so you won’t see them in any of the other groupings except for Honorable Mention All-State. At the end of the day, this is simply an attempt to honor girls who I thought stood out this season in Class 3A.

Our top player in the Class of 2021, Ariana had a spectacular individual season for the Eagles this Winter. On the year, she averaged 27.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. Ariana scored 30 or more points on nine occasions, and she even reached 40 points in a mid-December contest. She is so quick-footed and quick with the ball, she get by defenders with ease, and she can score at the basket, in the mid-range game, or find open teammates. She can also be a high-level on-ball defender. Ariana has committed to play at the University of Michigan.

Many players in Class 3A were vitally important to their teams this season, but when I considered Jade's name, it was hard to figure where the Madison Cubs would be without her on the floor. Her combination of size, strength, and versatility skillfully are unmatched by nearly everyone in Hoosierland. She has a solid handle and touch outside. She can post on the block, and she's great playing in the mid-post. On the season, Jade averaged 18.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game, but she also made 26 3-pointers at a 38% rate. She will be playing at Indiana Wesleyan University next season.

Kennedy spent her first two seasons playing a nice role for the Lady Bison, but this year it was her turn to star, and star she did. Over the Summer and Fall, you could see a transformation in her game. She looked taller and stronger, while still maintaining the perimeter skillset she entered high school with. She also plays with an outstanding motor and toughness. When she took to the court this Winter, she was a problem at times, averaging 16.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. I'd anticipate her picking up a lot of college interest this coming Spring and Summer.
COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Shamarah Allen, 2022, 5-9 SF, South Bend Washington H.S.
In most situations, I have handed out this comeback award to someone returning from injury. In Shamarah's case, she took her Sophomore season away from the game, so her return to the court was a comeback all its own. Shamarah added another long, bouncy, quick/fast athlete to the Panther lineup, and she was a huge help in their run to the Class 3A State Finals this year. Her talent is obvious in the open floor, she is an aggressive rebounder, and she can defend multiple positions. As the season wore on, you could see her confidence grow offensively, and her skill and efficiency improved as well. Watch out for her in 2021-2022.

When most players take the Varsity floor for the first time in their careers, they are filled with nerves and distracting thoughts. Not Olivia. In her very first game, she knocked down six 3-pointers, made 16-20 shots from the free throw line, and scored an astounding 42 points. She knocked down at least one 3-pointer in every game of the season, scored in double-figures every game of the season, and until her last three games, she never scored less than 15 points in any one game, despite being hounded often. Olivia averaged 23.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.6 steals per game as a rookie.

Many players in Class 3A were vitally important to their teams this season, but when I considered Jade's name, it was hard to figure where the Madison Cubs would be without her on the floor. Her combination of size, strength, and versatility skillfully are unmatched by nearly everyone in Hoosierland. She has a solid handle and touch outside. She can post on the block, and she's great playing in the mid-post. On the season, Jade averaged 18.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game, but she also made 26 3-pointers at a 38% rate. She will be playing at Indiana Wesleyan University next season.

Kennedy spent her first two seasons playing a nice role for the Lady Bison, but this year it was her turn to star, and star she did. Over the Summer and Fall, you could see a transformation in her game. She looked taller and stronger, while still maintaining the perimeter skillset she entered high school with. She also plays with an outstanding motor and toughness. When she took to the court this Winter, she was a problem at times, averaging 16.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. I'd anticipate her picking up a lot of college interest this coming Spring and Summer.
COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR

In most situations, I have handed out this comeback award to someone returning from injury. In Shamarah's case, she took her Sophomore season away from the game, so her return to the court was a comeback all its own. Shamarah added another long, bouncy, quick/fast athlete to the Panther lineup, and she was a huge help in their run to the Class 3A State Finals this year. Her talent is obvious in the open floor, she is an aggressive rebounder, and she can defend multiple positions. As the season wore on, you could see her confidence grow offensively, and her skill and efficiency improved as well. Watch out for her in 2021-2022.

When most players take the Varsity floor for the first time in their careers, they are filled with nerves and distracting thoughts. Not Olivia. In her very first game, she knocked down six 3-pointers, made 16-20 shots from the free throw line, and scored an astounding 42 points. She knocked down at least one 3-pointer in every game of the season, scored in double-figures every game of the season, and until her last three games, she never scored less than 15 points in any one game, despite being hounded often. Olivia averaged 23.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.6 steals per game as a rookie.
