We’ve spent a lot of time talking about the talent pool primarily in the Western Dakota Territory in covering mainly Bismarck area high schools, but what about the Eastern side? In this article, we’ll touch on some of the top-level scorers’ that the EDC has to offer covering primarily around the Fargo area.
[player_tooltip player_id="99802" first="Adie" last="Wagner"] - Fargo South - (5’7/PG/2022) - Reigning EDC scoring champion Wagner currently is in second for the leading scorer column. Adie is having a fantastic year averaging 21.2 points a game. The only side piece worth mentioning is she’s struggling from the field shooting 38%. A percentage that we’d all like to see increased shortly. Other than her percentage Wagner is still a walking bucket that can’t be stopped. She can put the ball on the ground and take her man to the hoop or step back for a smooth-looking jumper. She recently just passed her 2,000 high school career point total and signed at D2 power Minnesota State Moorhead.
[player_tooltip player_id="215744" first="Miriley" last="Simon"] - West Fargo - (6’1/C/2023) - Currently leading the EDC in scoring is [player_tooltip player_id="215744" first="Miriley" last="Simon"] at 22.4 points a game. Simon is a real treat to watch. Simon is shooting a healthy 54% from the field and has developed a nice pick and pop game shooting 46% from beyond the arc. Simon is a true bully in the post and capitalizes off a couple And1 opportunities a night. To go along with her 22.4 points she’s also averaging 12.8 rebounds a contest. Monster stat stuffer for a high level prospect that has turned up her game for her junior campaign.
[player_tooltip player_id="211403" first="Chloe" last="Pfau"] - West Fargo - (5’11/SG/2023) - [player_tooltip player_id="211403" first="Chloe" last="Pfau"] currently averaging 18 points a game is a bucket getter. For the first two games, she dropped 17 and 25 points. Pfau is a go-getter and shines the brightest in transition after a steal. She see’s the court well enough to make impact plays for her teammates. Currently she’s shooting around 50% from the field and a weak 29% from beyond the arc. She’s currently receiving D2 offers and if we see that 3 point percentage increase another 15% it could be the difference from a D1.
[player_tooltip player_id="375723" first="Teigan" last="Malo"] - Fargo South - (5’10/C/2024) - [player_tooltip player_id="375723" first="Teigan" last="Malo"] isn’t a household name around the Fargo area just yet. She’s currently averaging just over 12 points a game. Malo is the most efficient player on this list shooting a high 55% a night and snagging just over 12 rebounds a contest tallying for numerous double-doubles. Hard work certainly does pay off and Malo has a lot of room yet to grow. It’ll be most interesting how she fairs throughout the rest of this year and going into next as her biggest competition at her position will be [player_tooltip player_id="257896" first="Mesiku" last="Hakim"] from Shanley.
[player_tooltip player_id="257896" first="Mesiku" last="Hakim"] - Shanley - (6’0/C/2024) - Lastly on our list we have [player_tooltip player_id="257896" first="Mesiku" last="Hakim"]. Mesiku currently averages around 9 points and 8 rebounds a game. She’s an athletic big that can get up and down the court. She has a sweet post hook and uses her size to bully smaller post players. She currently is the #1 Center for her class. Hakim has a lot of potential to be something special. Something I’d really like to see her add to her game is a consistent mid-range shot and drawing more fouls offensively. I think she’s a great asset for Shanley and a future D2 player as it stands right now.
