This look at stand out post players from day 2 of the 27th Annual Mid America Classic is the last of my report on players from the event. Previously I released an extended look at day 1 and then reports on point and shooting guards and combo guards and small forwards from day 2. Enjoy the read.
[player_tooltip player_id="347855" first="Ella" last="Anderson"], 5’10", PF, Olathe South, 2024 - Anderson has the build and game to attract attention as a stretch four at the next level. She ran well, moved well without the ball, and played strong help-side defense.
[player_tooltip player_id="256497" first="Brooke" last="Berlin"], 6’1", C, Clearwater, 2022 - Berlin had another good day on the hardwoods. She showed good hands and the ability to shoot quickly. She continued to show strong rebounding ability but needs to control the ball better off the rebound more consistently. What troubles me most is that for two games straight she did not get many looks and when she did get touches the passes did not reach her in a good scoring position.
Paige Cheffey, 5’10", PF, Shawnee Mission-Northwest, 2024 - Cheffey is a difference maker especially when the team runs into opponents with quality, legitimate bigs. She has the body and physicality to compete on both ends as well as a solid all-around game. Cheffey elevates and rebounds well, can block shots, has good hands, and runs the two-on-one break well.
[player_tooltip player_id="93997" first="Grace" last="Dixon"], 6’1", C, Manhattan, 2022 - Dixon reminds me a bit of Mekenzie "Grizzley" Hefley that played for Hutchinson a couple years back. She is a big, strong, long center who seals well and is absolutely automatic around the basket. She just knows how to score around the basket. She tallied 17 points including 5/6 from the line. Dixon runs well, does a great job controlling the ball off the rebound, and has a very mature game.
[player_tooltip player_id="94007" first="Tamara" last="Harris-Webster"], 6’0", PF, Shawnee Mission-Northwest, 2022 - While she showed some frustration with its consistency, Harris-Webster responded well against players who liked to initiate contact defensively inside. She showed assertiveness around the basket as well as the ability to create shots by getting into the lane or working on the block off the catch. Good ability to finish through contact.
[player_tooltip player_id="294819" first="Peyton" last="Howard"], 5’9", PF, McPherson, 2022 - Howard was a defensive force with her physical interior play, defend on the perimeter, and elevate quickly to challenge shots around the basket. Offensively she showed a good ability to extend on shots around the basket and knock down the turnaround jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id="94010" first="Madison" last="Ronnebaum"], 6’0", C, Marysville, 2022 -Ronnebaum had a strong day against another 6A team, Manhattan. Without Dixon on the floor Ronnebaum was nearly unstoppable, finishing with a 14 points and 18 rebounds. She also had three steals in the first half. She again showed good hands, quick hops, and an ability to score consistently in the mid-range and around the basket.
Ashley VanElders, 6’3", PF/SF, Shawnee Mission South, 2024 - VanElders not only was hot from the perimeter, including going 3/3 from beyond the arc in the third quarter, but also competed well inside. She did a solid job of altering and blocking shots without fouling but does need work to cut down on turnovers.
