Leia Trinh Leia Trinh 5'6" | CG Greenwood | 2024 State KY | Greenwood
Trish broke her school’s single season and single game scoring records in her sophomore season. She also finished the season as one of Kentucky’s top 10 scorers, so it’s safe to say that Trinh is a certified bucket. She’s got great handles and speed, and she really makes some impressive moves to get past her defender. She can get all the way to the basket, stop and pop, shoot a runner, pull up from 3, and really anything in between. Her defender just has to be on alert because she has so much variety in her game. She draws fouls and is a top 50 free throw shooter in the state. Good defender who can come up with a lot of steals as well.
Claire Johnson Claire Johnson 5'10" | CG McCracken County | 2024 State KY | McCracken County
Johnson just seems comfortable with the ball in her hands. She’s fast, she’s got good handles and she doesn’t really favor one hand over the other. She keeps defenders on their toes because she has a quick first step and if she gets past you, she’s a threat shooting, driving, and distributing. She’s really shifty around the basket and can make things happen in the paint. Johnson sees the floor well and finds the open players when help steps over or when a defender is out of place. She can step out and shoot the ball with a quick release. Very good defender as well – reads the passing lanes and is ready to go after it.
Dea Bradley Dea Bradley 5'5" | CG Hart County | 2024 State KY | Hart County
Bradley is one of the most versatile scorers in the state. She finished her sophomore season in the top 15 for scoring in the state and her shot selection is a major strength in her game. Bradley has a fantastic basketball IQ. She can get to the hoop and finishes strong through contact, but she can also score in a variety of ways. She’s a great shooter from deep and she can elevate over defenders on her pull-ups. She has a solid step back and can get her shot off quick. She’s a really good ball handler and passer also. Defensively, she moves her feet to stay in front and has such active hands.
Hailee Johnson Hailee Johnson 5'9" | CG Owensboro Catholic | 2024 State KY | Owensboro Catholic
Johnson does a little bit of everything when she’s on the court. She’s a phenomenal defender who can lock down an opponent’s best player using her length and speed. Johnson is a really good driver and has a knack for drawing fouls. She finishes really well at the rim, but when she does draw the foul, she knocks down free throws at a high percentage. She is an excellent 3-point shooter as well. Crashes the boards hard and is a good rebounder.
Ella Daniels Ella Daniels 5'10" | CG Christian Academy Louisville | 2024 State KY | CAL
Daniels is a bit of a sleeper because there aren’t many teams that have gotten to truly see her skillset thus far. However, the other 2 guards that started alongside Daniels for CAL this year are both seniors, so I expect Daniels to play a much bigger role next year and she is fully ready for that role. She is an outstanding defender, has a high basketball IQ, and can get to the rim. She’s got the speed and athleticism, and that shines when she plays defense. She is a really good defender on and off the ball. On the offensive end, she can play any guard position and she makes some really nice passes. Good outside shooter.
Laiken Hardin Laiken Hardin 5'10" | CG Bourbon County | 2024 State KY | Bourbon County
Hardin is a player that can score at all 3 levels. She recognizes mismatches and makes good moves in the post if she has an advantage. She can elevate over defenders and score in the paint. She has a really good shot from deep and pretty long range. She can knock down shots with a hand in her face. She can drive. She can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. Defensively, she can guard any position on the floor. She reads passing lanes well and steps in front to ensure she gets the steal. She rebounds well and stays strong once she gets the rebound also.
