Na'Kiya Bonner (2024, PG, Michigan Crossover Nike EYBL, Detroit Edison)
I think that Bonner turns eyes to her game no matter where or when she plays. She was so dynamic with the ball in her hands this weekend. Bonner may be one of the more creative ball handlers in the country.
Tianna Daye Tianna Daye 5'5" | PG East Kentwood | 2023 State MI (2024, West Michigan Drive 2023, East Kentwood)
Daye’s numbers may not explode off the page, but her play at the event did. She showed that she can be really good in so many facets of the game. From efficient scoring, to passing in the open floor, to blocking a couple shots….she did it all.
Hailey Freshcorn Hailey Freshcorn 5'8" | PG Columbia Central | 2024 State MI (2024, PG, MSF Flight 16u, Onsted)
Freshcorn controlled the action in each and every game, leading MSF Flight 16u to a 4-0 weekend. She was, in my opinion, the best player in her team’s pool.
Makayla Hatchew Makayla Hatchew 5'5" | PG Sparta | 2024 State MI (2024, PG, West Michigan Drive 2024, Sparta)
Hatchew has a reputation for her toughness, but it was her shooting that turned heads this weekend. She had 12 triples, shooting at 66% from behind the arc.
Sydney Hendrix Sydney Hendrix 6'0" | SF West Bloomfield | 2023 State MI (2023, F, Michigan Crossover 2023, West Bloomfield)
There was a lot of chatter about her versatility and toughness this weekend. She’s a gamer that will touch a lot of statistical categories every single game. Hendrix rebounded and defended at a very high level at the Nike Girls EYBL Session 1.
Ellery Hernandez (2025, G, PR1DE 2025, Clarkston)
If Hernandez continues this type of play through high school season, she’ll get some varsity minutes for sure. Her defense is irreplaceable.
Isis Johnson (2025, SG, HYPE Lady Hoopers, Westfield Prep)
Johnson took the state of Michigan by storm in her freshman season and she’s doing the same in grassroots play, only on a national scale. She attacked the D in her silky smooth way, slashing to the rim and creating scoring opportunities.
Grace Lyons Grace Lyons 5'7" | SG Rockford | 2024 State MI (2024, SG, West Michigan Drive 2024, Rockford)
Last we saw Grace Lyons Grace Lyons 5'7" | SG Rockford | 2024 State MI she was helping to shoot Rockford to a memorable playoff run. Well, it’s grassroots season and here was Lyons, shooting the leather off the ball once again. College coaches take note.
Jada McCree Jada McCree 5'6" | CG Grand Blanc | 2023 State MI (2023, CG, Michigan Storm 2023, Grand Blanc)
McCree is a terrific all around athlete and a dynamic guard, but it was her shooting that drew her attention this weekend. She buried 6 triples in her final game. McCree seems primed for a huge grassroots season.
Kendall Standfest Kendall Standfest 5'11" | SG Elk Rapids | 2024 State MI (2024, SG, Michigan Mystics , Elk Rapids)
Standfest stood tall this weekend. She averaged a double-double over the course of the event with 12 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game. Standfest was one of, if not the most, consistent player statewide.
Brooklyn Tornes Brooklyn Tornes 5'5" | PG Muskegon Reeths-Puffer | 2024 State MI (2024, PG, MBA 2024 UA Rise, Reeths-Puffer)
Tornes definitely turned heads with her brilliant play on offense. She was a playmaker that created for herself off the bounce. Tornes showed some very real range on her jumper as well.
Janae Tyler Janae Tyler 5'11" | C Holt | 2023 State MI (2023, C, Michigan Storm 2023 UAA, Holt)
Tyler showed how dominant of a force in the paint she can truly be. She had a very impressive double-double this weekend which included high percentage scoring opportunities.
Anna Wypych (2025, PG, West Michigan Drive 2025, Rockford)
Rockford opponent won’t be happy to deal with another Wypych for the next few years. In typical family fashion, she’s a leader, a shooter, and is dynamic with the ball in her hands. She gave opponents headaches all weekend, leading her team to a 3-2 weekend.
