This past weekend, I spent over 20 hours in the gym and tried to observe as many prospects as possible! Here are some of the post players from the class of 2027 that stood out to me.
Silva is a force to be reckoned with on both offense and defense. She excels at positioning herself to seal off her defender, allowing her to finish with either hand. Silva also has a great ability to score in transition by running the rim. Additionally, she uses her length to her advantage on the defensive end, effectively blocking shots.
Backus is an exceptional talent and stands out as one of the top Centers in the class of 2027. She has a remarkable ability to use her strength to establish a dominant position on the block and can effectively maneuver with her back to the basket. Her footwork is impeccable and allows her to create space to get her shot off. Moreover, Backus has a keen eye for the ball and is quick to react to any missed shots. She reads the ball off the rim like a pro and attacks the boards with precision, grabbing rebounds with ease. Overall, Backus is an outstanding player with a bright future ahead of her.
During the Main Event, Fuhs showcased her impressive basketball skills. She executed multiple three-point shots with a quick release and also used her length to block shots in the paint. Samantha was a standout, driving through defenders with ease and finishing strong at the rim. She is having a remarkable Spring, and I look forward to watching her more.
Highlights
I can see Scarlett’s skills improving every time she plays. She has the speed of a guard and the strength of a post player. At the Main Event, she made several hustle plays that were impressive. Her footwork around the rim has improved significantly since I first saw her play at the Headliners Invitational last fall. If Savanna continues to progress at the same rate, she could become a dominant force by the end of the summer.
