The event featured a ton of teams and Prep Girls Hoops took in 2 full days of action here at the Apache Memorial Tourney. Let’s take a look at some of the 2023 Top Performers from the Palmetto State here at the event.
Kamari Thompson Kamari Thompson 6'0" | PF Southside | 2023 State SC – FBC Carolina Hawks 17U Parks – Southside HS (Greenville)
Kamari was great in a win over Team Knight (FL) this afternoon. Thompson finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds according to my stats. Kamari was able to manufacture all of her points just on activity on the glass and running the floor in transition. She defends out on the perimeter very well with her long length. Thompson is relentless on the glass to lead to a double-double every night it seems for her squad.
Peris Smith Peris Smith 6'2" | PF North Augusta | 2023 State SC – A’ja Wilson Elite 2023 – North Augusta HS
Peris comes with a bit of the mean streak and an aggressive style of play. Smith will play the game on contact while battling inside the paint. She won’t hesitate to jump on the floor for a loose ball at all. Peris does her best work around the paint area while scoring on just complete effort through contact and putbacks on the glass.
Kamya Hatten Kamya Hatten 6'0" | SF Southside | 2023 State SC – FBC Carolina Hawks 17U Parks – Legacy Early College
Kamya really plays the game to the fullest at all times when she is in the game. Hatten does a good job of using her body to fight defenders and scoring at the rim. She really does a good job using the head-fake move around the basket to score on contact at times. Kamya anticipates the passing lanes well and she always stays active while on the floor. Hatten can really rebound the ball well outside of her area.
Lindsay Garner Lindsay Garner 6'2" | C Lexington | 2023 State SC – ABC Lightning – Lexington HS
Lindsay went across into the Hoop State to play her ball this spring on the Grassroots circuit. Garner is playing with a Raleigh, NC based squad coached by Gary Williams. Lindsay was playing more today as a stretch 4 at times while playing out in the high post. She was able to connect on some mid-range and short corner jumpers. Garner logs a lot of minutes on this team from the forward positions.
Raven Johnson Raven Johnson 6'2" | C Westwood | 2023 State SC – SC Future 2023 Black – Blythewood HS
Johnson came to play today for her squad leading them in scoring while picking up the win. Raven played aggressive through contact and was able to alter and challenge some shots on the defensive end of the floor. She did a good job of running the floor and filling lane in transition today.
Nadia Burns Nadia Burns 5'10" | SF Legion Collegiate | 2023 State SC – SC Future 2023 Black – Legion Collegiate
Burns and Johnson complimented one another around the paint area today in a win. Nadia was efficient around the paint on putbacks on the glass and second chance opportunities. She tends to be a bit of a Tweener at times on floor and can play a bit of face-up to the basket. Nadia does most of her work inside the block area and really does a good job of absorbing contact and rebounds.
