Carolina Border Clash: Hoop State Performers

The Hoop State (North Carolina) was represented well here at the Carolina Border Clash in Florence, SC this past weekend. Sarah keeps improving her skill set and it showed today even more from behind the arc. She really makes her team go with her all-around play. Strong has a solid set of skills on the floor when it comes to making plays and rebounding on both ends of the floor. Thompson has a sweet stroke from downtown and always seems to be shot ready to receive the ball. Emerson really remains active on both ends of the floor if it’s picking up deflections on the defensive end or running down a loose ball on the court. <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-430197" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/CE10E1BF-35B3-4ABE-BAD5-7525BB8A42DA.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="275952" first="Lili" last="Booker"] - EA Lady Stars 2023 - Cannon </strong> Lili is playing up an age group for her EA Lady Stars program. Booker does a good job at both guard spots and really plays the game extremely unselfish. Lili is a past first guard with an energizer bunny mindset on the floor while constantly moving towards the ball. Danauje was able to get the ball into the gaps and paint all day long looking for teammates along the way. She does a good job of changing speeds in the open court and cruising by defenders on the way to the rack. Brooks is a crafty point guard and really looks to direct traffic while on the floor. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="302223" first="Amanda" last="Mitchell"] - Lady Strong / Strong Center - Willow Springs HS (Fuquay-Varina)</strong> Mitchell has seemed to grow a bit in the past year. Amanda a left-handed post player showed a nice drop-step move in the paint. She was able to carve out space and play with her back to the basket. Prep Girls Hoops is excited to see Mitchell and Brooks progress with this team down the road and the 2025 Hoop State Class. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="430189" first="Joi" last="Pergerson"] (2024) - Lady Spurs Elite - Middle Creek HS (Apex) (pictured on front)</strong> Pergerson was a nice surprise today with her play for her Spurs team. Joi really scored the ball from all 3 levels on the floor. She was able to connect from deep range while making several shots from deep range. Joi averaged 14.5 ppg this past season for the Lady Mustangs in high school. <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-430196" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/908C18F5-C344-426B-92E4-B8D5969D275C.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="413357" first="Alicia" last="McClain"] - FBC Queen City Ballers 15U - Scotland HS (Laurinburg) </strong> McClain a rangy wing player was able to knockdown some perimeter jumpers today. Alicia was very active in the passing lanes picking up some deflections and taking it the other way in transition today. Alicia has a nice shooting stroke and really does a good job of working the perimeter for her shot.
