With River City Run and The Classic finishing up during the lats couple weekends, there are plenty of recruits who have been on a mission as of late. Here are some of the names that seem to be continually popping up both on my and other scout’s radars.
1) Rachel Smith Rachel Smith 5'7" | SG Great Crossing | 2023 State KY | Kentucky Ice | Class of 2023
Smith has been on fire as of late. In both the recent River City Run and The Classic tournaments, she has continued to show her ability to play both guard positions. Whether it’s shooting a contested shot from the top of the key or driving and dishing to a teammate in the corner, Smith can do it all. She is playing at an extremely high level right now both on the offensive and defensive ends, and if this trend continues, she will be a scouting nightmare for opposing teams come next season.
2) Allison Spieker Allison Spieker 5'8" | SG Whitefield Academy | 2024 State KY | Kentucky Ice | Class of 2024
Spieker, a teammate of Smith’s, has also been lighting it up on the circuit. Her shooting has been stellar and her size allows her to make an impact in the paint as well. She is such a fundamentally strong player that it’s hard to find cracks in her game. Threes, drives, free throws, defense, you name it. Spieker has been doing it all for Kentucky Ice this summer.
3) Brittany Campbell Brittany Campbell 5'7" | PG Madison Central | 2025 State KY | Richmond Heat | Class of 2025
Campbell has all the tools to be an elite point guard and she sure has been showing it the past few weeks. She has the speed, IQ, and playmaking ability that every single coach loves and the qualities they would want their floor general and team leader to possess. Combine her incredible passing ability with her knack for scoring on all three levels and she becomes seemingly unstoppable. That is what the past few weeks have looked like for Brittany Campbell Brittany Campbell 5'7" | PG Madison Central | 2025 State KY .
4) Juliana Frazee Juliana Frazee 6'1" | C Franklin County | 2025 State KY | Richmond Heat | Class of 2025
Frazee is just a force to be reckon with in the post, plain and simple. Her presence on the court changes everything. Her size and footwork allow her to do things that most players her age just can’t do. She has baby-hooks and turn around shoots that are literally just impossible to defend. What is really scary though is that she is still only an underclassmen, who will, no doubt, continue to grow in both size and skill.
5) Grace Bale Grace Bale 5'7" | SG Taylor County | 2025 State KY | KY Dream | Class of 2025
Bale is another young player who, just like a couple others on this list, is simply just playing at a top-notch level. She is everywhere on both offense and defense and never takes a play off. Her scoring ability is spectacular and there really seems to be no limit on how deep she can shoot the ball. Here is another player to look out for in the upcoming high school season. Be ready coaches.
