On the first day of Meltdown, there were six slots of intriguing games with many talented kids. Tonight, I'll be going through a handful of kids that stood out through the day.

Sarah Helm

The 2025 guard looked comfortable today. She scored in different ways and showed her athleticism on the defensive end. She's a steady off-ball guard who makes winning plays away from the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="448303" first="Grace" last="Zortman"]

Not many kids can get to the basket like Zortman. She attacks with a lot of aggression. I thought she finished well, with both hands, and plays with an incredibly high motor.

[player_tooltip player_id="448261" first="Madeline" last="Leffel"]

The Kettle Moraine Lutheran wing possesses length and athleticism. She causes issues for teams in transition because of her speed, balance, and ability to finish with both hands around the basket. As she gets more consistent, coaches will love what she brings to the floor more and more.

[player_tooltip player_id="338952" first="Karinna" last="Trotter"]

The 6-foot-2 forward sees the game well. Trotter communicates with her teammates by calling out screens and motions they may not see. You can see her skill when she attacks from the perimeter or shoots because her offensive game is versatile.

[player_tooltip player_id="342360" first="Eliana" last="Sheplee"]

I'm a noted fan of Sheplee due to her ability to out-athletic most kids she plays against at this level. She is faster, stronger, and jumps higher than over 90% of kids she plays against and alongside. Her upside on the defensive end is absurd.

[player_tooltip player_id="342358" first="Kelly" last="Kray"]

I love how Kray maneuvers in the paint. She may not block as many shots as you'd think, but she changes every shot attempt around the basket. Her athleticism, with her 6-foot-2 size, is a deterrent for guards. Seeing her cover the ground she does in brief moments in time is incredible.

[player_tooltip player_id="181885" first="Emilee" last="Fox"]

I got to see the South Dakota native at TOC, and she may be one of the best shooters I've seen this summer. She hit at least eight 3s when I saw her at TOC, and she must've hit at least six today. I love kids who shoot with confidence and get their jumper up quickly. That's where Fox thrives on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="218149" first="Katie" last="Vasecka"]

The South Dakota native's size and athleticism are ridiculous. Vasecka makes some moves that are hard to believe. Some of the reverse pivots with speed at her size are ridiculous. She can score from everywhere and defend one through five.

[player_tooltip player_id="209900" first="Sydney" last="Cherney"]

Cherney is one of the most active kids when she's on the floor. She finds the ball and makes plays. Every time I see her, I love how often she's the first one on the floor and how many tie-ups she gets by having a nose for the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="63043" first="Isabela" last="Mccool"]

The Iowa native does everything at a respectable level. She may not stand out by doing any one thing, but she fits into any role and scheme you could imagine. Her versatility is an asset that will help her wherever she plays.

[player_tooltip player_id="266983" first="Brooklynn" last="Butler"]

Today was the best I've seen Butler play with Let it Rain. She looked comfortable in her new surroundings. Her shooting and rebounding helped nearly pull her team out of a double-digit point hole.

[player_tooltip player_id="156097" first="Reagan" last="Pahl"]

The Cedarburg guard can shoot the lights out. When she gets into a rhythm, she's challenging to defend because her ability to get to the basket is perfectly balanced with her shooting. She showed why she's as coveted a prospect as she is today.
