Continue ReadingJayla Williams Jayla Williams 5’10” | CG Ankeny | 2026 State IA will be a name to know this upcoming season after transferring to Ankeny High School. Jayla is a solid combo guard who can score on all three levels. She can push the ball after a rebound coast to coast, while knocking down a shot from any open spot on the floor. Her length and athleticism is impressive to say the least. Williams will add to a veteran Hawks team who returns 4 of 5 starters along with a deep bench. After going 16-7 overall last season, and being conference champs at 10-2, this group should have their sights set on big goals this upcoming season.
Sam Mcdonald’s energy is a difference maker on the floor for her teammates and it’s easy to see. Coming off of a good junior campaign for the Dubuque Senior Rams, Sam led the team with 11.5 PPG on 47.5% shooting, 41.2% from the three point line, 5.3 RPG, 1.8APG, and to an overall 12-11 record. McDonald is a 2-3 guard who can get to the hoop just by outworking her defender most of the time but can also catch you up with great footwork in the mid post if need be. When you add this along with her IQ and aggressive nature on defense, the Rams are poised to have a big impact in the MVC this year.
Courtney Franck
Courtney Franck
Courtney Franck looks build on the summer she has had and bring it into the school year at Mount Vernon. The 5’8 off guard got it done efficiently for her team at the Top 250 Camp on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Being able to attack her defender for an easy finish or to pull back and make a jump shot, all along with being able to guard the 1-4 and make the right choices most of the time. The Mount Vernon Mustangs lost their top 2 leaders in PPG and rebounding from last year but return 5 other players that have varsity experience. Ending the season 12-11 overall, with the addition of Courtney, the Mustangs looks to build on their foundation from last season and ride their momentum going into the playoff’s.
